Selected Shiraz from premium vineyards throughout Langhorne Creek was vinified using a combination of fermentation styles and French oak, to highlight the regional characteristics. The wine has lifted aromas of spice, dark cherry and plums, with a rich, full-flavoured palate of forest fruits and vanilla, finishing with soft tannins and excellent length. It tastes great now, and will reward patient cellaring.

A horde of marauding vintners? It doesn't sound like something you'd like to meet anytime soon! But when word gets around that a parcel of really good wine is up for grabs, things can get pretty brutal. But our marauding vintners don't really pillage and plunder so much as cajole and encourage the makers of the prime wine to send it their way. Most of the pillaging is done to beers at the pub – and the plundering to our chequebook! The results are worth it. Small batch, unique and flavoursome wines are what we're all about. The Selkirk is an excellent Shiraz from Bremerton and has a rich spicy flavour with a hint of pepper and a long, lingering finish - classic Langhorne Creek in style in a very well made package that can be both a drink now style or cellar nicely for the medium term.

The Heartland story began in the late 1990s when winemaker Ben Glaetzer became excited about the outstanding quality of fruit being grown in some of South Australia’s lesser-known regions, in particular Langhorne Creek. Together with industry veterans, Scott Collett, Grant Tilbrook and more recently Nick Keukenmeester, they grew Heartland into an award-winning winery. In their velvety 93pt Heart & Soil Shiraz, a depth of black forest fruit and cassis is framed by the vanilla and Christmas spices of judiciously used French and American oak. Expect soft tannins and a lingering finish. "Richly fruited and instantly appealing, the wine shows blackberry, vanilla, mixed spice and toasted nut aromas, followed by a generously expressed palate offering succulent fruit flavours with silky texture and fine-grained tannins.
