D'Arenberg Coppermine Rd Cabernet Sauvignon

'The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon, which is still tightly wound, the black berry and currant fruit compressed into a solid block while its secondary dark chocolate characters are now powering out of the glass. If you open this now you are going to need a dinosaur steak to stand up to it, but wait another five to 10 years and you'll see something else.' - Adelaide Advertiser, 20 Sep 2014, by Tony Love. 'Full-on blackberry and blackcurrant fruit strikes from the first sniff of this opulent and intense McLaren Vale cabernet. The fruit intensity on the nose and palate is extraordinary, revealing so much depth and concentration. Plenty of French and American oak, and the tannins have a nice suppleness.' 96/100. - Weekend West, Perth, 24 Aug 2013, by Ray Jordan.

Primo Estate Joseph Moda Cabernet Merlot

Primo Estate's Joseph Moda is widely acclaimed as one of Australia's greatest Cabernets, and has been so since its inception in 1987. To create this exceptionally concentrated McLaren Vale red, Joe Grilli combines traditional Italian winemaking techniques with his 'Aussie know how' by air-drying the best fruit available to the winery on shaded outdoor racks for two weeks prior to crushing. The 'Moda', or method, is usually associated with Amarone style wines from Italy, but is put to superb use here by the team at Primo to create a brooding, opulent wine. After this intensive process, the wine is then aged in French and American oak for 20 months to further enhance the wine's complexity, flavour and effortless length.

Order and chaos, purity and excess, harmony and passion. Entwined by nature they are at their best when together. The vineyard, the winemaker, the vintage and the moment create the experience. The Cabernet Sauvignon is from a 120 year old vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale. The ancient soils and elevation of the vineyard offer the perfect conditions for growing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon in small crops.
