Torbreck The Steading

The 2015 Steading has a fragrancy, purity of fruit, mid-palate concentration and savoury tannin profile that makes it an exemplary wine. Vibrant aromas of violet, star anise hints of violet and spice all unfold to reveal an impressive array of underlying fruit flavours. Silky, succulent dark fruits, black olive, savoury earth, liquorice and Asian spice. These complex yet elegant flavours are all neatly interwoven with a perfect balance of acidity and supple, silky tannins. The 2015 Steading will continue to develop with time in the cellar, and provide those with patience great enjoyment well into the next decade.

Grosset Gaia

John Duval Eligo Shiraz

John Duval, famously known as the craftsman of the mighty Penfolds Grange, continues to further forge his reputation as a maker of great Shiraz. 'Eligo' from the latin: 'To pick out, select or choose or choose the best' is the flagship wine of the John Duval stable with its main aim to produce a Shiraz with structure and an elegant expression of its terrior. Multi layered with lashes of dark berry fruit, the wine is intense yet still quite restrained. An excellent Barossan Shiraz!

St Hallett Old Block Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Excellent

Coming from one of the best vintages in recent Barossa history, the Old Block from St Hallett shows what careful vineyard management can do for a wine. Rich, dark and conerntrated but with seamless tannin intergration.

Tyrrell's Vat 9 Shiraz

Yangarra Estate Ironheart Shiraz

The dark fruit aromas are underpinned by developing earthy characters, with spice and a hint of minerality. The palate shows plenty of power and concentration as the fruit unfolds, with big soft tannins, so typical from this site, and the iron-like sanguine finish. Ironheart represents the most eloquent expression of Shiraz from our Estate, grown on the most elite Shiraz block which we refer to simply as Block 15. The name Ironheart speaks to the reddish ironstone soils of this unique site. As with all of our wines, we use open-top fermenters, natural yeast fermentation and employ a careful regime of plunging, drain and returns to get the right balance of extraction. We fill 25% of the fermenter with whole clusters which adds some texture and complexity. The Yangarra philosophy centers around producing wines solely from our single-vineyard estate, where our bush-vine Grenache is the keystone variety. With our feet firm in history, and our eyes on the horizon, Yangarra Estate now exists to deliver the essence of this beautiful place to your glass. McLaren Vale folks like to think that their region on the Gulf St Vincent, patron of viticulturers, has the best Mediterranean climate on Earth. With this foremost in mind, Yangarra Estate is devoted solely to producing wines from the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone, which lies on the north-west Mediterranean coast. Yangarras combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in these moderate maritime environments. Our respect of this special piece of country is evident in the wines we make from its grapes - every Yangarra Estate wine is a confident reflection of the nature of this land.

Kilikanoon Walton Grenache

Planted in 1946, the old Walton Grenache block is a monument to the history of the Clare Valley. Dry-grown bush vines were planted in terra rossa soils, allowing excellent drainage at elevation and with an aspect which captures the late summer sun. This wine is a pure expression of Clare Valley Grenache. Aromas of strawberry, dark cherries (almost Cherry Ripe), cedar-spice with hints of sandalwood. The palate is silky smooth and vibrant, redolent with red cherries, red plums, blood orange and chocolate. The finish is long, expressive and youthful. Plenty behind it to cellar into the medium term and possibly more. "Youthful, vibrant red in the glass. Exotic aromas of five spice, cola, blueberry, dried herbs and red cherry. Flavours are mid-weighted, rich and fleshy. There’s plenty of red and blue fruit drive, supple and caressing tannins and bouncy, zingy acidity keeping all in check. Lovely, expressive grenache here, layers of flavour and a decent whack of complexity... 95pts" (Aaron Brasher, The Real Review).

By Farr Shiraz

Shiraz By Farr is one of Victoria's premier cool-climate Shiraz's, made by the iconic Geelong winemaker, Gary Farr. The nose is incredibly complex showing notes of red and black fruits, spice, black pepper and iodine. In the mouth the wine is incredibly fresh. Wonderfully braced fruit and fine framing tannins and an outstanding length.

Seppelt St Peters Shiraz

First released in 1964 as the Great Western Hermitage, this descendant of the legendary wine shows dark berry fruit, spice and oak on the nose, while there's spice, chocolate, dark berry fruit and a touch of oak on the medium-bodied palate, finishing with fine, long tannins. The extra bottle age is evident but there's still plenty of life left. Deep crimson-purple; aromatic red and black fruit nuances on the bouquet lead into a gently spicy medium-bodied palate, which has true elegance and harmony.
