Nestled high in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, the Isle of Harris Distillery welcomes all with a sense of adventure. They are known as 'The Social Distillery', an ethos which embraces the generous character of the island and the people who live there. Made with 9 carefully chosen botanicals: Local hand-harvested Sugar Kelp, Macedonian Juniper Berries, English Coriander Seed, Cubebs / Javan Pepper, Bitter Orange Peel, Angelica Root, Cassia Bark, Orris Root, Liquorice On The NoseA well-defined juniper note with pine needles, immediately followed by the fresh citrus notes of bitter orange, lime and grapefruit. Develops a complex floral note of rose and wallflowers with crushed green herbs, coriander and gooseberry all underpinned by mixed spice. Sugar kelp adds to the complexity and richness and gives a dry maritime note. On The PalateRefreshing gin with good balance between the bitter juniper and pine and the sweet fruit flavours of mango, grapefruit and orange. A green herb flavour has developed of crushed coriander. Distinctive and smooth with a dry, flinty taste. On The FinishOverall a long, clean finish. As the juniper and citrus fade away, sweet vanilla and black pepper remain with a gentle reminder of the sea.

There are many stories about who created the first Negroni. We like to believe it originated in Florence, Italy in 1919 when Count Camillo Negroni asked for a stronger version of his favourite cocktail the Americano (Campari, Red Vermouth and soda water). The bartender replaced the traditional soda for gin, and the world-famous aperitif was born. The definition of sophistication and simplicity the Negroni is a tonic for those who would rather be sitting in a local bar during what the Italians refer to as aperitivo hour.Serving Suggestions:Serve Dr Onyx Negroni swirled, not shaken in a short glass over ice. No. 209 opens up with a beautiful aromatic nose of predominately citrus and floral notes with a hint of spiciness. First across the palate are the citrus high notes, with lemon predominate followed by a hint of orange. As the spirit warms in the mouth, delicate floral notes are liberated from the bergamot and coriander. Mid-Palate, there is a pepper-like warmth from the emerging cardamom and juniper with a wonderful counterpoint from the mint-like componets of the cardamom. As the gin passes the palate, the cassia and the other warm spice notes become prominent. The cassia in particular will linger in the aftertaste, encouraging another sip.

Each 500ml hand-crafted cocktail lid is manually dipped in wax with a silver foil swing tag, presented in a hand wax dripped, thick cardboard cylinder box. As each Gift Box is manually waxed, no two boxes are the same, some minor organic imperfections may be visible.Margarita:There are many claims to the origin of the Margarita. Some say it evolved from the traditional Tequila Daisy (Margarita is Spanish for Daisy), similar to the Margarita with more focus on lemon and lime, than the balance of orange liquor in the Margarita. Others say it was created in a Tijuana bar for the Ziegfeld dancer Majorie King. Another popular story is that it was created by socialite Margarita Sames for guests at her Acapulco holiday home. Regardless of how it originated, the blend of Tequila, Cointreau Liqueur, and lime is one of the most popular cocktails of choice.Serving Suggestions:To serve, line the rim of a tumbler with fresh lime and dip the rim in salt. Fill the glass with ice, then pour Dr Onyx Margarita. Add a squeeze of fresh lime and drop in a lime wedge to complete your south of the border experience.
