A faithful expression of the site beautiful, haunting aromatics, fine sandy tannins and wonderful, memorable length on the palate

100% Grenache, made from a single plot of ripe Barossa fruit. Typically pretty and expressive on the nose, with a palate full of raspberry and spice supported by a backbone of grippy tannins.

Ruby red color not very heavy. The nose reveals floral notes, aromas of berries, raspberry, strawberries, cherries and spicy nuances and marascate. The taste is elegant with light fruity notes, intense freshness and a good persistence.

The original Australian "Rhône Ranger", Charlie Melton can be credited as the pioneer in reviving old vine Grenache based wines. By taking a stance against the government funded vine pull scheme of the 1980's, he has single handedly saved some of the worlds most ancient vineyards. His Nine Popes now stands as a beacon of quality amongst other great "GSM" blends.

Wonderfully composed and sweetly fragrant, the wine shows mixed berry compote, Black Doris plum, cocoa and toasted nut characters on the nose with subtle spicy complexity. The palate is succulent and plush, offering excellent weight and fleshy mouthfeel, leading to an impressively long silky finish. Harmonious and immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2026.

Grenache has long been a stalwart of the South Australian wine scene and Penfolds have been blending Grenache with Shiraz since the 1950's. Recent years has seen a growing trend for the luscious perfumed styles like those emanating out of the northern Rhône and the Bin 138 produces a brilliant example. Pale coral in colour with argyle pink hues, there are aromas of fresh quince, raspberry and white chocolate, grapefruit blossom and sea spray. A savoury yet moreish palate, full of Alpine strawberries, preserved lemons and grapefruit pith. Enjoy with chargrilled squid and salsa verde.

Bright, blueberry fruits on the nose with garrigue, black olive and pepper and some savoury wet-stone minerality. It’s generous and textured on the palate but light on its feet, full of bright fruit, violets, anise and subtle minerality. It finishes long and fresh with fine, powdery tannins. A real pleasure, and effortless to drink despite its impressive depth of flavour.

Sourced from three remarkable sites in the famed Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale, this wine possesses a beautifully complex, aromatic nose of violets, wild cherry, rosemary and warming spice. The palate is energetic yet polished and smooth with vibrant cherry, spice, wild strawberry and liquorice on the palate. Medium bodied but multi-layered and textural with a very long, aromatic finish.
