‘PIQ’, or Piquepoul, is the newest white wine from the Lienert stable. A fresh dry white akin to Eden Valley Riesling, but without all that mucking about in high altitude stuff. In a nutshell, Piquepoul is kind of like Riesling, but with a tantalising ocean mist character about it. Heralding from southern France, this crisp refreshing white has claimed ‘Official Oyster Wine’ status in its home country, such is the degree to which oysters and Piquepoul are joined at the hip. It does of course pair equally as well with mussels, abalone, clams and pipis!

Vinification is simple and centred around preserving the delicacy, freshness and vitality found in early picked old vine fruit. This Spinifex Rose consists of Grenache (52%), Cinsault (30 %), Mataro (14%) and Ugni blanc (4%). Bunches from mature (averaging 65 years of age) dry drown vineyards are hand harvested and the crushed and left to macerate for between 4 and 48 hrs prior to pressing.

High in the hills above Eden Valley, Pewsey Vale is one of Australia's great Riesling vineyards. This release shows the typical citrus and perfume aromas with a wonderful length of flavour. Double Barrel Shiraz has a full and generous palate with a beguiling mix of sweet red fruits and dark chocolate indicative of its origins as Barossa Shiraz. Subtle toasty vanillin derives from aging in traditional French and American oak wine barrels. The careful use of aged Scotch whisky barrels for finishing has added complex nuances of almond-husks and also softened the dense tannins to yield an incredible smoothness.

A contemporary example of Barossa Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre. Lifted with red fruits and spice. The palate is medium bodied with plush red and black fruits.

A complex, savoury nose of spice and white pepper. Rich plummy fruit with a touch of vanilla and cedary oak characters. This Grant Burge Balthasar Shiraz is drinking beautifully now or for careful medium term cellaring.
