Henschke Bursaria Pinot Noir 2023 Fresh, fragrant, and deeply site-driven. The 2023 Bursaria Pinot Noir marks a quiet triumph for Henschke’s Lenswood vineyard, harvested just a few years after the devastating Cudlee Creek bushfire. Prue and Stephen Henschke’s regeneration of this Adelaide Hills site has led to a release that’s not only poised and varietally pure, but also deeply expressive of its restored landscape. Made entirely from pinot noir grown on steep, cool-climate slopes, it opens with lifted aromatics of red cherry, wild strawberry and bergamot, layered with tomato stem, thyme and forest floor. The palate is bright and silken, with fine tannins framing a vibrant core of raspberry and morello cherry. Matured in seasoned French oak barriques for 18 months, it carries both finesse and quiet persistence. Tasting Notes NOSE – Red fruit and herb Wild strawberry, cranberry and cherry with rose petal, dried thyme and a hint of forest floor. PALATE – Silken and detailed Blood plum, raspberry and morello cherry glide across a fine-boned structure with lively acidity. The palate is immediately powerful, with good intense ripe black fruits, some pomegranate, a touch of cassis and ripe cherry. Tannins are present but fine, adding shape and texture. This is one of the more powerful expressions we have made- similar in structure to ‘22 and ’16. As always our Pinot Noir is beautiful drinking as a young wine, but our 2024 will repay a further 5 or more years in the cellar

The wine's name was inspired by memories of his grandfather's cellar - wine bottles sealed with heavy red wax and an occasional bat fluttering in the lamp light. Spicy, liquorice scented Shiraz, cassis laden Cabernet and dense Malbec create power and complexity. Smooth enough to drink on its own and terrific with spare ribs, steak or kebabs. The 2015 Shotfire Quartage is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. These are the classic grapes of France’s Bordeaux region, but this is definitely a Barossa wine – there’s no mistaking those intense, ripe fruit flavours. As we love our wines to be fresh and vibrant in Australia, this brilliant (and affordable!) Chianti, closed with a Stelvin Lux, has enticing red cherry aromas blended with a touch of tobacco leaf and spice. Wonderfully medium-bodied, the palate is rich and generous, although supported by that typical Tuscan structure of zippy acid and soft, powdery tannin. Saluté!
