The Tate family are one of the most famous wine names in Western Australia, especially in Margaret River. It was the Tate family who began Evans & Tate decades ago and today the Tate name is re-born under the Franklin Tate Estates label. Franklin, son of John, has sourced some of the most prestigious vineyard sites in Margaret River and has highly regarded winemaker Rory Clifton-Parks to handcraft the quality wines. The Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is a traditional Margaret River blend that displays characters of lifted lemon and a hint of cut grass. The palate is refreshing and cleansing with a lovely crisp finish.

A slightly more serious style showing clean and focused characters of citrus, nettles, dried herbs and flint, with a touch of smoke adding complexity from partial barrel fermentation in one year old oak barriques. The wine finishes long and clean with lingering herbaceous characters and mineral acidity.

This aromatic white blend is a fusion of 92% Sauvignon Blanc grapes with 8% Semillon grapes. These fruit parcels were harvested in the cool of the night and then cold pressed. The juice obtained was fermented in stainless steel before bottling. The resulting blend displays a pale green colour. The lifted bouquet exudes fresh aromas of guava, with hints of Semillon grapes evident in the background. The medium-bodied palate initially presents flint dry and racy fruit flavours, balanced by crisp acidity. The finale is excellent and lingering. Made for consumption upon release, this enticing white wine has the potential to be cellared for 2 to 3 years from vintage. Modern white wine making techniques were used with temperature control critical from the vineyard through to the winery. The fruit was de-stemmed and crushed then must chilled and pressed off the skins quickly. It was allowed to settle for 72 hours before being racked in a clarified state to a fermentation tank. Each variety was kept separately with a range of different yeast being employed on the two different parcels. It was then transferred to temperature controlled steel tanks.
