Brookdale Semillon comes from Tyrrell's famous HVD vineyard which was planted in 1908. It nearly always produces Semillon that are floral, softer, and more approachable. The floral nose leads into a palate that is seamlessly balanced between soft Semillon fruit characters and a clean, light finish.

The home of Semillon in Australia is unquestionably the Hunter Valley and Briar Ridge produce a Semillon that has lovely pale straw hues with crisp lemon on the nose and brilliant lime zest on the palate.

The 1908 block at the HVD Vineyard was hand-picked and basket pressed, with the juice cold settled for four days before fermentation began in stainless steel tanks. The fermenting juice was then transferred to French oak barriques, 30% of which were new. The wine is balanced between primary chardonnay fruit flavours and secondary flavours, derived from the minimal solids ferment and extended yeast lees contact, resulting in this wine's texture and mouthfeel. An unwooded early drinking style, the wine has intense varietal characteristics with aromas of limes, sweet fruit and some spice. The palate is well balanced with the fruit sweetness balanced by a crisp acid finish.

The Army Block Semillon is an isolated parcel from the highly regarded Black Cluster Vineyard in Pokolbin in The Hunter Valley. The grapes were handpicked from low yielding vines to minimise skin contact and preserve the fresh, delicate flavours of the variety and ensure excellent concentration of fruit flavour.​ ​
