The 2021 Red Grenache is a cool wine, because it throws off the usual full-bodied expectation of an easy drinking red and replaces it with something crunchy, spicy, medium-bodied and exciting. The fruit is sweet and tempered by savory tannins, and all in all, there is a heck of a lot of pleasure here. I love the febrile tension in the mouth. Really smart.

Pretty and immediately expressive, multi layered aromas of raspberry, dried cherries, lifted spices and rhubarb.Medium bodied with layers of tannins and savoury earthy flavours balanced with a textured waves of spicy fruit. Complex, soft on the palate with a fineness and elegance counter balanced with generosity and depth of texture that speaks of it’s munda (land or country).

Youthful, mid-weight palate, bright spiced red cherry and ripe raspberry fruits on attack to turn to a slately, dried spice and cherry pit close. Precise and focussed, fine sandy tannins and bright acids deliver drive and finish.

Marco Cirillo, the guru of Grenache. A true artisan, Marco is the custodian of some of oldest Grenache vines in the world and remarkably he tends to each of the old, gnarly bush vines by hand, some standing 6-feet tall! The resulting Grenache that makes The Vincent has beautiful, fine grained tannin along with fruit that is remarkably vibrant and appealing to the palate.

This blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Viognier is a relatively recent addition to Henschke's impressive range. Typically fragrant plum and raspberry aromas, followed by a velvety palate with rich fruit flavours and well intergraded tannins. Henry's Seven will not disappoint.

Alkina Kin Night Sky Grenache Shiraz Mataro, Barossa Valley The Night Sky is a relaxed red made from certified organic and biodynamic fruit. A Barossa blend of equal parts Grenache and Shiraz, with some savoury Mataro too, the red and black fruits fuse to create a ripe and smooth core that is big but never overbearing. The Alkina Kin range enables the team to develop releases that celebrate local artists whose work features on their stunning labels.

This spicy Barossa blend is based on fruit from mature Grenache vines. Ripe plum aromas jump out of the glass and the palate is rich and fruity with velvety tannins providing a lingering finish.

The three great Barossa red varietals are Mataro, Shiraz and Grenache. Blended well they produce wine full of fruit, complexity, spice, drink-ability and age-ability. These varieties arent afraid of the sun and dry climates, so they thrive in the northern sub-regions of the Barossa. The grapes for this wine are a combination of youngish, mature and older vines, all grown by the Hoffmann family. The Hoffman and OCallaghan family's history of growing grapes and making wines has developed into a strong trust over the decades. Its this long-term commitment, respect for each other, the region, and its people I feel is instrumental to making the Barossa proudly stand out from other wine regions.
