L’Epiphanie de Saint-Estèphe comes from a very fine estate in Bordeaux’s legendary St-Estèphe appellation in the northernmost part of the Médoc – one of only two Second Growths. (There are actually no First Growths in St-Estèphe, so this is pretty much top of the tree.) First Growth Château Lafite is just across a stream to the south, which gives you an idea of the hallowed terroir we’re talking about. It's compellingly aromatic – a seductive scent of violets and ripe red fruit. It's a sublime example of the lavish St Estephes from this great estate, silky smooth, velvety, complex and long.

The Berthier family have been winegrowers for five generations, with Clement and Florian taking over the reins in 2012 to continue the family tradition. Clement is responsible for winemaking and sales, while Florian is focused on the vineyards. Located across the Loire River opposite Pouilly Fume, the terroir for this Sancerre comprises mainly of flint and limestone. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is racy and expressive, with bright grapefruit, white flowers, and notes of struck flint. The palate opens up rich and full, finishing with a rich yet silky freshness.

Typically Vau Lignau is extremely energetic, tonic, fine and elegant, its freshness is a reflection of its difficult and windy terroir, with structured minerality and a very elegant finish. The 2019 vintage is a wonderful vintage and a great example of Ligneau it is slightly softer acidity and more approachable when young offers good value for money at its best with a pronounced mineral character that enhances the fruit and fine vegetal flavours.
