Torbreck Woodcutters Rose
This rosé is unashamedly modelled after the fabulously rich, gloriously scented and bone dry rosés of Provence. A fruit-filled palate makes it best served chilled with a summer seafood salad.
Teusner The Independent Shiraz Mataro
From Kym Teusner, one of Australias most iconic winemakers right now, this exceptional Shiraz Mataro drinks like twice the price. If you didnt know in a blind tasting that it was a $30 wine, youd be quite happy paying $40 or $50. The Shiraz leads with loads of really beautiful, bold, opulent fruit thats typical of the Barossa, while the Mataro sits in the background, plumping up the tannins like a Cabernet, to add definition and structural balance. The two are just working together so well and thats why we simply couldnt deny this wine the best of the best. Simply superb!
Torbreck The Steading
The 2015 Steading has a fragrancy, purity of fruit, mid-palate concentration and savoury tannin profile that makes it an exemplary wine. Vibrant aromas of violet, star anise hints of violet and spice all unfold to reveal an impressive array of underlying fruit flavours. Silky, succulent dark fruits, black olive, savoury earth, liquorice and Asian spice. These complex yet elegant flavours are all neatly interwoven with a perfect balance of acidity and supple, silky tannins. The 2015 Steading will continue to develop with time in the cellar, and provide those with patience great enjoyment well into the next decade.
Z Wine Section 3146 Barossa Valley Shiraz
2014 Z Wine Section 3146 Barossa Valley Shiraz. Shiraz performed well with high baumes and low yields keeping us on or toes. Ripe fruit flavour and good weighted wines helped us shape a classic and popular Barossa style with loads of raspberry, licorice, black pepper and chocolate for complexity.
GISA Ellipse Reserve Shiraz
GISA ELLIPSE RESERVE BAROSSA VALLEY SHIRAZ is the pinnacle wine in the GISA portfolio. The fruit is 100% Single Vineyard Barossa Valley shiraz from the Copper Hill vineyard, owned by Denis Rohrlach near Williamstown. This vineyard is a single cordon vineyard at 450 m above sea level. The low yielding old vines produce a fruit that is dense, dark and concentrated in its flavour.Traditional winemaking techniques including hand plunged open fermenters were used to extract the best from the fruit. Post ferment the wine was pressed off and entombed in French and American for a period of 12 months. The wine received minimal intervention from this point.A tight structured wine with layers of complex fruits, full round mouthfeel, fine approachable tannins and good length. Whilst closed on the nose when initially opened the wine benefits from decanting and time to breath.True to its roots this is a ripe, rich, full flavoured Barossa Shiraz. The bottled result is a wine personifies the GISA philosophy.
