Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No.1 Yarra Valley Cabernet A feature of the Langton’s Classification since its 1990 inception, “No . 1” remains one of Australia’s most sought-after Bordeaux style blends. It is principally a Cabernet Sauvignon affair, with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot playing supporting roles. Described as a “classic claret-style”, it features bright, blackcurrant fruit characters, savoury complexity and fine-grained tannins. Originally made by the late great Dr Bailey Carrodus, this flagship of the Yarra has been in the hands of Sarah Crowe (James Halliday’s 2016 Winemaker of the Year) since the 2013 vintage.

With freshness on the palate and a leaning towards a medium bodied Cabernet, this is a lively mix of red currant, cassis, and moreish acidity, with aromas of tobacco, cassis and bay leaf - this is a classic cooler climate Cabernet.

Vintage: 2020 Region: Yarra Valley Geelong Alcohol: 14 % Bottle Type: Bordeaux (330mm) Color: It boasts an inky colour with red hues. Aroma: Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, black pepper, and spice dominate the nose. Palate: Crafted from handcrafted fruits and work of oak, this wine is a seamless union of Cabernet and Shiraz. The expressive aromas flow effortlessly onto the palate, delivering layers of juicy, ripe fruit supported by refined tannins and excellent balance. A beautifully structured wine, elegant in style but rich in taste.

Palate: This wine has aromas of blackberry, green pepper, while French oak influence offers a gentle cigar box and cedar to the nose. On the palate the wine is powerful and intense with dark berry fruit, spice and smoke. The wine is full bodied mouth with thick tannins with long finish.
