Hand-crafted using small parcels of old vine fruit, The Barking Dog Grenache Shiraz Mataro is an exceptional example of three of the Barossa Valleys finest varieties. Natural fruit sweetness drives the palate with flavours of blackberry, plum, tobacco and a touch of spice to round it out. The soft balanced tannins and acid provide the core structure and combine to provide an intense long finish.

The wines in Yalumbas Distinguished Sites collection, including the Vine Vale, capture the true essence of specific, special sites. In th glass: Pale garnet. On the nose: Raspberry, cranberry, white pepper & vanilla. On the palate: Silky & smooth with a charming mix of red fruit, subtle pepper & dried herb notes, fine, velvety tannins & mouth-feel. A lighter, almost Pinot-like style of Grenache.

2015 is the third release of the Jack’s GSM, with a blend of 56% Old Vine Grenache, 26% Shiraz and 18% Mourvédre. Each variety adds its own characteristics to the blend – Grenache aromatic red fruits and spice, Shiraz body and weight while Mourvédre adds structure and complexity. The grapes were de-stemmed and 60% berries crushed while 40% whole berries remained before being transferred into open top fermenters. Fermentation was kept on the cooler side and hand plunged twice per day with a rack and return for 14 days. After fermentation the wine was then drained to oak barrels and skins were hand shovelled out of the fermenters into the basket press. Appearance: Ruby core with crimson rim. Aroma: Spice and earthy characters dominate in the 2015 opposed to the previous vintage. Cinnamon stick and nutmeg along with attractive aromas of cherry, plum and rhubarb pie. Palate: It’s all about the structure with this vintage. Firm mouthfeel from grippy tannins but with soft acidity. There is a persistent cherry flavour on the finish. Region: 100% Barossa Valley.

CIRILLO 1850 Ancestor Vine Grenache, Barossa Valley

The three great Barossa red varietals are Mataro, Shiraz and Grenache. Blended well they produce wine full of fruit, complexity, spice, drink-ability and age-ability. These varieties arent afraid of the sun and dry climates, so they thrive in the northern sub-regions of the Barossa. The grapes for this wine are a combination of youngish, mature and older vines, all grown by the Hoffmann family. The Hoffman and OCallaghan family's history of growing grapes and making wines has developed into a strong trust over the decades. Its this long-term commitment, respect for each other, the region, and its people I feel is instrumental to making the Barossa proudly stand out from other wine regions. Im truly thankful to the Hoffman family for giving me the privilege of turning generations of their blood, sweat and tears into wine, that makes me proud, and you will love.

MUNDA WINES Ngadjuri and Peramangk Country Grenache, Barossa Valley, Eden Valley Munda chooses minimal intervention in the winery, and prefers to bottle relatively early to reflect the brightness of their wines.
