Sevenhill was originally set up in 1851 when the Jesuits who settled in the area planted the Clare Valley’s first vines to produce sacramental wine. The estate’s wines, along with its old stone winery, stately St Aloysius’ Church, College building and spacious gardens has made the Sevenhill name famous. So much so that they have recently won the Gourmet Traveller Award for best Large Cellar Door in the Clare Valley! Ray Jordan gives their 2021 Malbec a solid 92pts, "Malbec is a variety that does rather well in Clare, especially as a major blending component with cabernet. Still this one does it solo, and it does it well. Lots of the distinctive red floral fruits on the nose have that stamp of malbec. Bright and alive on a high energy palate with plenty of ripe red fruit characters with chalky tannins and understated oak in support."

Malbec has proven to be one of the most successful red grape varieties in Argentina. This example from Santa Julia is full-bodied rich and spicy with well balanced tannins on the palate. A great match for matured cheeses.

This wine is soft and fleshy and full of all the good dark fruits; plum and blackcurrant. It's seamless in the mouth with juicy fruit favours on the palate. A light tannic structure, vibrant acid and a long savoury finish.

Whitebox Shiraz has aromas of dark fruit, spice and leather that leads into a palate of blackberries and cedar. The fruit sweetness is balanced by firm acid and fine tannins. A great example of Heathcote Shiraz from a favourite of Dan Murphy's customers over the years.

Wow, what a blockbuster full-bodied red! If you're looking for the perfect wine to match with that thick-cut BBQ steak, Hereford Shiraz is your answer. The aroma is full of ripe berries and a hint of chocolate with a velvety palate to follow. This wine could never be accused of being a shrinking violet. Full-blown body and richness is its trademark and would be a crying shame not to enjoy a glass with your friends and family this weekend.

Deep colour, lively dark berry fruit and capsicum flavour, this wine has a luxuriously long warm mouthfeel.

With intense deep and rich colour, this Perricoota Shiraz displays alluring toasted coconut and dried spice aromas that lead to raspberry and plum flavours on the palate. The wine is balanced by complex nuances of roasted coffee beans and coconut that are derived from 12 months spent with American Oak.

From the western end of the Barossa famed for growing rich and structured wines. The combination of Malbec and Cabernet lends structure and body to the blend. Cabernet brings spice, cedar and dried herbs while the Malbec adds blue fruits and chalky tannins.

This superb wine abounds with intense cherry, chocolate and spice flavours. Like the Gauchos its velvety smooth on the outside but mucho macho on the inside. Salud!
