Everyone loves good Rioja. Now take a step up to Reserva level. This is from the 2012 vintage, officially classified as ‘very good’. It was aged for at least a year in barrel and two in bottle to produce a Rioja of perfect balance and depth. Pagos de Tahola comes from the Chavarri family – Francisco and daughter Ruth form a winning partnership with winemaker Miguel Lopez Nuñez. Their exemplary wines are based on exuberant fruit harvested from mature vines in some of Rioja’s highest vineyards then infused with the signature fragrance of quality French and US oak. Rich aromas of dried berries and vanilla, hallmark red berry and sweet spice flavours and silky texture – impressively smooth. Serve with Spanish style rice dishes or grilled meats.

Azulejo Tempranillo

Azulejos (“tiles” in English) are a quintessential part of Spanish art, just as wine. Each region in Spain has its own distinct style of producing the azulejos. With this collection of wines we pair the most attractive and trendiest wine regions with a particular azulejo style, using a modern approach that results in a pairing that brings out the best qualities of both. This Tempranillo originates from the region of Rioja. Made in a modern, fruit-forward style, this wine is bright with violet hues and a cherry red rim. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, cherries and prunes are supported with notes of vanilla, shaved coconut and spices. Smooth and silky on the palate with sweet, plush tannins and a balanced, pleasant and persistent finish.

Stylistically, Dalmau is the most modern of the red wines from Marques de Murrieta and is named after owner Vincente Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga. The 2019 vintage has received 97 points from James Suckling, Tim Atkin, and 98 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. 86% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Graciano, with 20 months in French oak and 6 months in concrete vats prior to bottling. Intensely scented nose with hints of blueberries, red plum, thyme, cedar and black pepper. Splendid palate, wide and well-defined with a long juicy finish. A seductive blend of strength and finesse. “The clearest expression of Canajas single-vineyard nature; a Dalmau with strong character, more concentrated and expressive compared to its predecessors.” - María Vargas, Technical Director.
