John Riddoch is not only a famous name in the region of Coonawarra, but an important figure in the Australian wine industry. The story of Sol goes back to 1899, when on a sunny morning in Mexico, a brew master was working away. The early morning sun crept over his brew pot, caught in the majesty of the moment he was inspired to name his brew 'El Sol' - the sun in Mexican. Since that day Sol has been a beer for the working class, a beer of the people.

First made in 1805 by Henri-Louis Pernod, it is an unsweetened aniseed flavoured liqueur that is often enjoyed after dinner as a digestive.

The wonderful flavour of Chimay White, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma.

Vinification is simple and centred around preserving the delicacy, freshness and vitality found in early picked old vine fruit. This Spinifex Rose consists of Grenache (52%), Cinsault (30 %), Mataro (14%) and Ugni blanc (4%). Bunches from mature (averaging 65 years of age) dry drown vineyards are hand harvested and the crushed and left to macerate for between 4 and 48 hrs prior to pressing.

McLaren Vale and Shiraz - the perfect match. In 1904 a co-operative winery called Ai Vino Delle Langhe was founded and a young man who worked there was Alfred Prunotto. Prunotto took over the estate in 1922, giving it his own name and today it is run under the umbrella of the famous Marchesi Antinori family. Located in Alba the estate tends around 50 hectares of vineyards throughout the Langhe and Monferrato. This Nebbiolo is garnet red in colour with ample and complex aromas of violets and berry fruit, full and velvety in flavour and very balanced. Its structure and body make it an ideal match for meat and game dishes and for cheese.

Northern Tasmania is widely known for the quality of sparkling wine produced in the cool climate region, with the first 1995 vintage of Pirie doing much to establish this reputation. Now a new chapter is born with Pirie NV Sparkling - A full flavoured cuvýe from a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir, boasting complexity and freshness.
