Nose - berry fruits with a gentle sweet note. Palate - nice fruit richness, hints of cherry, medium soft tannins, overall true to varietal and region. Best Drinking - a solid quaffing-level pinot from a 5-Star winemaker in a legendary region. This pinot spent more time on oak than typical, creating intrigue, complexity and balance.Line priced with the Shiraz and Chardonnay. Food Match - the fruit density lends itself to lamb or sausage meats, mushroom dishes, and light to medium sauces.

Victoria's first vineyard is a landmark in the Yarra Valley and an icon of the Australian wine industry. Loads of lovely Pinot character on the nose with ripe cherry gamey notes and hints of "forest floor". Silky in texture the lingering flavour is enhanced by a touch of oak.

Rich aromas of black cherries, mulberries, Damson plums and cake spice, with a gamey, animal flourish. In the mouth, the Hurley Hommage Pinot Noir has concentrated flavours of same plus the usual herbaceous nuance of Hommage, nicely balanced by excellent acidity and excellent oak.

From Kate Goodman's team, who already bring us the wonderful Punt Rd range, this second label perpetuates their well deserved reputation. This is a soft, fruit driven Pinot from sites around the Yarra Valley. It offers great complexity at this price.

Yabby Lake's approach to viticulture and winemaking is peerless; lifted red fruits, silky mid-palate with undergrowthy nuances, and extended finish mean a wine with class written all over it.

The Yarra Valley is renowned for its excellence in Pinot Noir and this expression is no exception. In the glass: Medium garnet red. On the nose: Ripe dark berry fruit. On the palate: Bold, quite powerul red plum and raspberry fruit with some background stalky, herbal elements. Firm and dry yet flavoursome and varietal.

Delicate colour. Aromas of lifted raspberry, redcurrant and cranberry fruit float across underlying earth and spice notes. The palate is fine and delicate but still well defined and structured. More cranberry and redcurrant characters are on show here too. There is some gentle oak influence adding tannin and complexity.

Judd, McCutcheon and Wallis are all utilised to reflect the cool-climate of Main Ridge, one of the coolest parts of the region. At play in the wine are flavours that bounce between sweet fruit and savouriness along with a length of flavour befitting a wine of such pedigree.
