A fascinating look at a fresh and lively Austrian red wine. Zweigelt grapes grown on various sites in the village of Heideboden in Austria's Burgenland. Wild yeast fermented and matured for 12 months in used barriques to produce this Heideboden Zweigelt by Pittnauer.

This small family owned business uses methods passed down by the generations. A traditional dry red style, it is unfiltered and has no preservatives added.

Craggy Range Sophia Blend is a dark garnet colour. Lifted aromatics of dark berries, cassis, cocoa and wooden spices. Rich sweet fruit and hints of caramel are surrounded by firm fine tannins which provide elegance and great length on the palate.

Yellow Tail Big Bold Red bursts at the seams with ripe dark fruits and earthy spices. It has a rich oak character and will delight your tastebuds with flavours of raspberries and strawberry jam, with a hint of spice just to keep things interesting.

Riverside Landing Cabernet Merlot is youthful, fresh and fruit-driven red wine blend from South Australia. The Cabernet brings luscious blackcurrant flavours, while the Merlot gives it a smooth, supple texture. A good match with red meat and Italian food.

Château Latour is the epitome of power and bold concentration that is Pauillac. With a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, the brilliant close knit tannin complimenting the vibrant cassis driven fruit is something to behold. Gigondas always seems to play the little-brother role to Chateauneuf du Pape, but these wines can be very, very good. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre vinified in the purest tradition, this wine is opulent now and will age well for the next 8 or 10 years.

With light berry aromas and a soft, fruity palate with a touch of sweetness, this is a very appealing, easy drinking red to enjoy at any time. Try lightly chilled on those warm days, served with spicy dishes.
