Matured full-term in first-fill Fernando dè Castilla Oloroso Sherry butts and peated at a generous 137.3 PPM, the sherry influence is said to work a treat, complementing the smoke and vibrancy of the young malt. Says Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, “There’s a beautiful influence from the full-term maturation in these first fill Oloroso sherry butts. They’ve matured in the dunnage warehouses in the village of Port Charlotte, and the combination of cask and a slow and cold maturation has really accentuated the salty tang of the spirit. ” 58.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Notes from the producers... There is a wonderful viscosity and presence on the palate. Notes of smoked nuts and leather, warm orange marmalade on fresh scones. Dried apricot and hints of peppery spice toward the finish. Earthy peat smoke comes to the fore with a little time, along with the fruit and nutty aromatics of the oloroso casks. A salty tang of sea breeze creates a lively combination of flavours to finish.

Ardbeg's Corryvreckan replaced the discontinued Airigh Nam Beist . Unusually dry for Ardbeg, otherwise an utterly brilliant, unique expression of Islay. Tasting note: Dull gold colour with pale straw hue. quite an unusual nose for an Ardbeg. Rich chocolate, vanilla, lemon butter and spice above a smoky salty layer, the only evidence that it's Ardbeg is the end note of terracotta/clay/wet charcoal. With time in the glass, fresh smoky characteristics emerge, but do not dominate. The intense palate is initially rich and creamy, quite heavily peated, rich chocolatey flavours mingle harmoniously with the lemon butter before the unusually overt oak grips dry and the peat explodes - softly! The back palate is dry, firm, overtly oaky, and extremely spicy. Excellent balance at cask strength. Warm, tingly, spicy finish. Lemon, dry cocoa, strong spice and gentle smoke dominate the lengthy aftertaste. Austerely dry by Ardbeg standards but one of their best on record. 57.1% Alc./Vol.

Old Kempton Distillery's Small Cask Matured Single Malt Whisky is hand crafted on a magnificent heritage-listed property in Kempton, Tasmania, first gazetted to sell spirits in 1836. Weary travellers would stop at the coaching inn overnight on their ride between northern and southern Tasmania and the local innkeeper would revive them with aq good dram. Aroma: A beautifully complex nose that develops as the whisky sits in the glass and warms. Rich malt and fruit pastilles give way to delicate florals and musk sticks. Flavour: A sweet and elegant palate that maintains the body and alcohol warmth expected of a cask strength. Stewed apple and spices develop as the whisky moves across the palate. Finish: A long sweet finish with jelly babies and gummy bears giving way to oak, mixed spices, and orange peel. The Coachhouse Cask Strength pays tribute to the temporary location of our distillery when we first moved to Dysart House. The historic coach house was home to our distillery until the new distillery building was completed in 2021. During this time, the coach house played an integral role in the story of Old Kempton Distillery, producing whiskies that will be enjoyed far into the future. This cask strength release is a collection of carefully selected casks that beautifully capture the flavour profile at the heart of Old Kempton whisky. To achieve this, we select cask types from across our range, including Tasmanian Pinot Noir and Australian Fortified Wine casks, and match them together to create a perfect balance between the bright fruit and rich malt style of Old Kempton spirit and the layers of complexity which comes with age and maturation.
