It has a bright ruby red colour. It has a well-defined and persistent nose. It also has notes of plums and figs combined with the vanilla notes from oak ageing, making the wine pleasant and subtle. It is sweet and dense on the palate with an attractive mineral taste. It has a long and persistent finish with the delicate flavour of sweet blackberries. It is ideal to pair with red meats, game and gourmet dishes.

El Payador is a contemporary and fruit driven Argentinian Malbec created in partnership with third generation Mendoza winemaker Jorge Daniel Falasco. The Falasco family owns 3,000 hectares of vineyards in many of the prime locations, including in the ‘Uco Valley’ which is 1,100 metres above sea level and offers a perfect micro-climate for producing fresh fruit driven wines.A ripe and expressive nose of cherries, raspberries and fresh citrus with subtle notes of spicy oak. The palate is medium bodied with vibrant red berry flavours framed by rounded tannins and savoury complexity. An impressively long, dry finish. Perfect with a protein hit like a chargrilled rib-eye with peppercorn sauce.

It’s no surprise this style won Gold. The Barry Family are legends in the Clare Valley, and have used their rich soils and expert skills to produce this truly stunning 100% malbec. Aromas of violets, redcurrants, maraschino cherries and lavender flood the nose. The flavours are plentiful with blueberries, liquorice, violets, dark chocolate and black tea. The wine is full of energy and juicy fruit supported by fine gravelly tannins and fresh cranberry juice acidity. This 100% Malbec shows the potential of the variety to stand on its own and produce a delicious wine with vibrancy and elegance. The first vineyard that my grandfather, Jim Barry, planted in 1964 at our Armagh property was Malbec (900 vines). Since that time, Malbec has played an important part in our winemaking journey and is predominantly blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a deceptive density to this wine's aroma that hints at what lies beyond. The 2016 release builds on that breakthrough style - the wine shows plush generosity but there is a layering of flavours and complexity to this vintage that invites not just a second but third look. Generous, accessible primary fruit sits pretty up front but let the wine breathe and suddenly these dry, fine and lightly chewy tannins build on the back palate, lending a savoury edge to the dark fruit finish of this baby.

What happens when you combine notes of spice, black pepper and mocha? These are the aromas of Taylors Made Malbec. This red varietal has a well rounded body and deep flavours of black cherry, plum and raspberry.

Aromas of cinnamon spiced Mocha and fresh black berries and plums float from the glass with hints of Grandpa's pipe tobacco wafting in. The dark chocolate lined palate shows fresh black berries, black currant, plum and morello cherries with lovely chewy fine chocalately tannin that lingers.

This elegant and complex Malbec was aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels and expresses aromas of black fruit, jam and vanilla, with a subtle touch of liquorice. This wine has a great structure and lingering finish.
