Back in 1998 Chief Winemaker, Chris Hatcher, decided it was time to take Wolf Blass into the modern world and the result was a single varietal Shiraz that was 100% aged in French Oak, unlike their famous flagship the Black Label which is a blend and aged in American Oak. A wonderful contemporary version of Wolf Blass that is a cavalcade of rich blueberry, blackberry and complex elements of dark chocolate and warm spice. Superbly long on the palate with an obvious hint to a long future in the cellar.

Ripe old vine Shiraz from the heart of the Barossa contributes weight and texture Grenache adding cherry toffee earthy characters and solid savoury tannins. Will reward careful cellaring for a decade.

A simply gorgeous wine for pretty much any time of night (or day) - no judgement here. Some things are just meant to be together; Vegemite and cheese, bacon and eggs, grenache, shiraz and mataro. There's a reason winemakers have been blending these grapes for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Grenache brings juicy, jubey fruit and a smooth, silky mouthfeel. Shiraz brings spice, palate weight and a bit of grunt (this is Australia after all). Mataro (or mourvédre) brings a savoury earthiness, beautiful aromatics and structural acid. After months of painstaking blending and many, many taste tests, we get this wonderful little drop: A complex and complete wine that's soft enough for pinot drinkers and gutsy enough for old school shiraz drinkers. If you like energetic, vibrant wines, drink it young. If you like savoury, brooding wines, wait 5 years. The choice is yours!

Bin 138 is an expressive blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro, inspired by the wines of Southern Rhône and shaped by old vines in the Barossa Valley. Matured in seasoned oak, it boasts a rich and heady perfume, indicative of its varietal blend and the robust nature of the Barossa region.
