Growing up on a small vineyard in the Clare Valley, and going on to work with some of the brightest Riesling makers in the country before launching his own venture, John is never far away from his beloved grape. John makes classic Australian styles from carefully selected vineyards with an emphasis on purity and site reflection, as well as German-inspired expressions that balance acidity and sugar with singular precision.

Produced from 40 year old vines in the Clare Valley's renowned Watervale district this superb Riesling shows vibrant citrus fruit on the nose with deep minerally flavours and a crisp lingering finish.

Bright straw with hints of green. Exciting citrus and lime aromas. Touches of peach, honey dew and tropical fruit. The palate is bright and vibrant.

Slices of citrus and floral notes abound on the nose of the 2019 Scimitar Single Vineyard Clare Valley Riesling complimenting a palate of lingering fresh lime and lemon flavours and finely balanced acid.

It has now started to emerge from its initial straight jacketed steely tightness, opening up with glorious ripe pear and lemon flavours with hints of ripe rock melon that linger on the palate with a long, dry & refreshing finish.

Eden Valley rieslings tend to be a little more delicate and floral compared to the more zingy style founc in Clare Valley. This Riesling is no exception - bursting with mandarin, lemon, lime lychee, white flower floral and fennel flavours making this Riesling an absolutely perfect accompaniment to shellfish and spicy Asian dishes.
