Distilling Bourbon is classically American, which is why we named this whiskey Featherbone Bourbon after the innovative product once manufactured in this building a century ago at a time when manufacturing in Michigan was synonymous with American made. The Featherbone was a revolutionary product created and manufactured in Three Oaks by E.K. Warren, a staunch prohibitionist. Today, we create a quite a different kind of Featherbone at Journeyman and find it ironic to be operating a grain-to-bottle distillery in this once dry community. We hope that E.K. would find it in good spirits to see us carrying the torch for manufacturing into the 21st century. Characterised by its spicy aniseed and liquorice flavours but superbly complemented by full-bodied caramel note. Despite all, this beer is surprisingly smooth. It even reveals delicious fruity notes, especially pear, as well as a very slight hint of bitterness at the end of the palate. The story begins in the late 1970s, in the middle of the Vallée des Fées (the Valley of the Fairies), when two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts decided to create their own beer in the garage belonging to Chris’ mother-in-law. With the little money they had at the time, they began what the brewery’s fans now call the “Chouffe Story”. The 1st brew of 49 litres was produced on 27 August 1982.

OBrien Belgian Ale is a 100% gluten free Belgian blond style ale that displays a light sweetness from the sorghum and millet gluten free malts and Belgian candi sugar, and has a dry finish and slight alcohol warmth from the 6.0% alcohol content. It is complimented with subtle spice, earth and fruit characters from the yeast, hops and infused coriander.
