Charles Melton Nine Popes
The original Australian "Rhône Ranger", Charlie Melton can be credited as the pioneer in reviving old vine Grenache based wines. By taking a stance against the government funded vine pull scheme of the 1980's, he has single handedly saved some of the worlds most ancient vineyards. His Nine Popes now stands as a beacon of quality amongst other great "GSM" blends.

Monte Ronca Amarone Della Valpolicella
Monte Ronca’s Amarone consists of the 3 principal local varieties - Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella but the first point of difference is the addition of a small quantity of Teroldego. Teroldego provides more darkness to the colour but also results in greater depth of flavour on the palate. Once harvested, the grapes are placed into small ‘ fruttaio ’ boxes for drying. While most Amarone producers rack-dry their fruit for 6+ months, winemaker Antonio Fattori chooses to dry the grapes for a shorter period of 3–4 months. This achieves all the power and richness that Amarone is renown for but also allows for a vibrancy to shine through the wine. The dried grapes are fermented with natural yeast and are aged for 36 months in 1000-litre wooden barrels. Very deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Heady black cherry, morello cherry, liquorice and black plum scents inundate the olfactory senses followed by some dried cherry, cinnamon and spice notes. Rich, thick and dense the palate is layered with a super concentrate of morello cherry, black plum and dried cherry flavours which are underscored by a counter balancing freshness and ripe chewy tannins. Some cinnamon, vanillin spice and earth characters are also evident. Exceptionally powerful and showing no signs of heat it concludes very long and decadent. Drink over the next 6-8 years. Alc. 16%
