Krondorf is a name synonymous with the Barossa Valley with a long and prestigious history. Beginning life with the establishment of the Glenview winery back in the 1850s, Krondorf was reinvigorated by Grant Burge in 1978 and today has gone on to become one of the country's most awarded wineries. The Shiraz is a class-A, born and bred, full-bodied Barossa red. Bright garnet in colour with a vibrant nose of mulberry and hints of sweet strawberry. In balance tannin and acid balance along with a superb long length make this Barossan a wonderful value-for-money buy.

Who can say no to 33% extra that your normal bottle of wine? Hardys Stamp Shiraz is soft, generous and easy drinking. This Shiraz has attractive plummy aromas with a touch of spice and the palate is round and fruity with a soft finish.

This wine is mid-weighted, displaying layers of mixed red fruits and spicy notes. The tannins are gentle and interwoven with subtle French oak characters.

Margaret River is an under appreciated region for Australian Shiraz, and it's hard to see why with Cape Mentelle's Shiraz showing a vibrant core of blueberry, mulberry and hints of raspberry. It is well balanced with cocoa and savoury oak. The palate yet, is fine, elegant and focussed, finishing with chalky and structural tannins.

Semi translucent bright red to dark red colour with a light luminous red hue. Pronounced freshly crushed cherry and strawberry aromas mix with some inky earth and spicy herb notes. Juicy cherry and strawberry fruits are interwoven with subtle inky earth and dried herb elements. Soft fleshy mouth feel with velvety tannins. Finishes fresh with a savoury red fruited aftertaste. Brokenwood Shiraz is a ripe and generous Shiraz with lifted cherry and mint aromas nicely balanced with sweet chocolate notes on the nose and a soft rich palate with savoury cedary flavours and fine grained tannins on the finish.

From Orange in NSW, this Shiraz is a good introduction to the qualities of this emerging area. It shows aromas of plum and spices and the palate is all about the fruit with little intrusive oak.
