With a recent history that began in Canada in the min-80s, cinnamon infused spicy whisky's were the perfect tonic for the icy cold winters. The worlds first triple malt, this whisky is produced with single malts from the companys neighbouring Speyside distilleries in Dufftown, Scotland. The term monkey shoulder dates back to whisky making heritage a condition that maltmen used to pick up while turning the barley by hand during long shifts. Many whiskies take their flavour from just one cask, but we mature Grants Triple Wood in three different types of wood: Virgin Oak cask provides spicy robustness, American Oak lends subtle vanilla smoothness and Bourbon refill offers brown sugar sweetness, resulting in a smoother, richer, mellower taste.

Speyside whisky distillery with a bold approach to the art of distillation and cask maturation. BenRiach 10-Year-Old is classic Speyside in character. The cask formula focuses on ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. A pleasant character, with green apple, tropical fruit, vanilla and toffee. A medium-long finish with chocolate and light oak.

"Peat 45" is the reduced strength release of Elements of Islay's smokey duo. Also a vatted malt, this has the same classic Islay character as the 'Full Proof' version with notes of fruit, spice and smoke, only less oomph. Tasting note: Matured in a Bourbon cask. Pale / water like appearance. Soft and fluffy on the nose with biscuity notes to the fore (granita, choc-ripple) plus faint citrus. Air contact shifts the accent to lanolin / wool shed. Still later a malty base note dominates along with cocoa. Breezy, soft and drying in the mouth, especially towards the finish. Flavours of kipper, spiced citrus and light pepper, turning mineral dry to finish with lanolin lingering in the final stages. Evocative of young Lagavulin. Nicely done. 45% Alc./Vol.
