The aroma is of blackberry and cassis with no leafiness and an earthy, Moroccan leather bouquet typical of the Whalebone terroir. The flavours are rich and strong with an underlying fresh varietal complexity including the spiciness of Cabernet and the fresh leather and anise of Shiraz. The tannins are at once grainy and substantial providing a savoury and long finish. This is an excellent example of Australias own red blend and a pure expression of these unique terroirs.

John Riddoch MHA, who entered South Australia's Parliament (1865) as the South East's representative. Founded the Coonawarra Wine Region (1890) with the aspiration of making the finest wine in the country. The 2021 Riddoch The Representative Cabernet Merlot exhibits Cassis redcurrant spice aromas, fine chalky tannins and generous flavours. John Riddoch's first vintage of Coonawarra Claret (1890) was a shiraz-dominant wine. Built in the 16th century and situated in Barsac at about 30 kilometers from Bordeaux, Château Massereau was acquired by the Chaigneau family in 2000. A 19 hectare estate with 10 planted (6,600 – 7000 plants/hectare) in the Barsac, Graves and Bordeaux Superieur appellations. Château Massereau Bordeaux Supérieur 2018 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc & 10% Petit Verdot. Vinified in concrete vats for 4-8 weeks naturally without additional yeast, finings, filtration and low sulphite. The resulting wine is garnet in colour with an intense nose of black fruit, with hints of sweet spice and pepper.

Bold and fruity, this firm Merlot has classic dark berry notes and an elegant oaky finish.

2019 Coffee Rock Merlot Black currant fruits, mocha and some cigar box aromas. Nice firm yet supple tannins which will soften with some cellar time. Estate grown on our coffee rock soils.

The Bill & Arthur is named after two pioneering and well-regarded Coonawarra local legends and, we are delighted to tell you, that in the glass, this special exclusive is deep, dark and downright delicious. Drawn from the 1890s heritage row and other Redman vineyards with an average vine age of about 50 years, the Bill & Arthur stands as a classic Coonawarra Shiraz: medium-bodied, with a richness of fruit that ripens at a lower alcohol level than typical Barossa and McLaren Vale Shiraz. Hand-plunged and basket-pressed, the 2021 exhibits generous blackcurrent, violet and bramble aromas, leading to a savoury flavor profile with a touch of pepper and Chinese five-spice playing in the background. Just add barbequed ribeye with black pepper sauce. Dan Redman describes the 2021 vintage as one of Coonawarra’s best. Matured in aged American and French oak for about 12 months. Will cellar for 5 to 10 years but ready for immediate drinking pleasure.
