Finlaggan Single Malt (Islay) Scotch Whisky

Islay's historic lighthouse island, Eileen Mor is the name this Finlaggan expression. The island is noted for the mysterious disappearance of 3 lighthouse keepers on the island in 1900. From an undisclosed Islay distillery, Eileen Mor delivers a nose of salty sea breeze, burning leaves and a touch of antiseptic. The palate is rather intensely peated with spicy hints of black pepper. The finish is long with drying peat smoke.Finlaggan is a very decent peated Islay Scotch Whisky at a nice price.Finlaggan is not a distillery, it's a whisky that is from one of the Islay distilleries, but which one is not disclosed, though there are only a few on Islay anyway.The whisky is specially made for Finlaggan and comes from only one distillery.On the island of Islay lies Loch Finlaggan, a place of great importance in Scottish history. In the loch there are three islands, two of which are Eilean Mor and Eileen na Comhairle where the installation of the MacDonald Lords of the Isles took place. The chiefs of Clan MacDonald, chose Finlaggan as their home and the centre of their lordship, so that Islay is often referred to as the Cradle of Clan Donald.

Bowmore 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Located in Islays capital of the same name, Bowmore uses a combination of dedicated craftsmen, pure water, smoked peat and traditional manufacturing techniques to ensure that their whisky tastes the same as it did when it was first distilled in 1779. The 12 Year Old Single Malt has a nose of lifted lemon and honey that are bound together with the distinctive Bowmore smokiness. On the palate, the whisky is warm and delicious with subtle dark chocolate and peat smoke.

Laphroaig 10 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Laphroaig, founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, has an extremely rich history; neighbourly disputes with Lagavulin and many ownership changes to name a couple. The 10 Year Old Single Malt is Laphroaig's signature malt that is full sparkling gold in colour and has that signature rich smoke and seaweed character with a hint of sweetness. Surprisingly the palate is rich with subtle sweet hints and complex layers of salt and peatiness that evolve on the palate and continue to the long and dry finish.

Lagavulin 16 Year Old Scotch Whisky

This peaty Single Malt dates back to 1816, when John Johnston and Archibald Campbell each constructed a distillery on what today is the Lagavulin site. After Johnston died, Campbell consolidated the two, before selling it to malt merchant Alexander Graham. Today it continues to uphold the traditions of its past, using meticulous preparation to create powerful whisky. Their signature 16 year old malt has a strong peat, smoke and seaweed nose that is followed by a nutty complexity and light fruitiness. In the mouth characters of Charcoal, dry woodiness and iodine followed by chilli chocolate and a hint of toffee.

Laphroaig Quarter Scotch Whisky

The Quarter Cask is a strong, double cask matured, non-chill filtered malt from the iconic Islay distillery, Laphroaig. With a nose of burning peat embers and hints of coconut and bananas that is then followed by a palate that is deep and complex with smoky flavours. Still quite gentle with a hint of sweetness, this 48% Single Malt has a long, spicy and smoky finish that seems to last an eternity.
