Yarra Yering Dry Red No 1

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

One of Victoria's true heritage wines, Yarra Yering Dry Red No.1 is primarily a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Malbec and a touch of Petit Verdot. Planted on a historic Yarra Valley site by the late Dr Bailey Carrodus, this wine is full of complex aromas of plum and berry which is followed by rich fruits with an oak and cedar slant. Wantirna Estate Amelia Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

From a unique vineyard site in Melbourne's eastern suburbs the Egan family have been producing this beautiful Bordeaux-styled red since 1997; cassis and cedar characters with admirable length. Adorned with artwork from Melbourne cartooning icon, Leunig, the Amelia is firmly established within the Langton's Classification of Australian Wine and is a must have for all serious wine collectors.

Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No 1 Cabernets

A feature of the Langtons Classification since its 1990 inception, No . 1 remains one of Australias most sought-after Bordeaux style blends. It is principally a Cabernet Sauvignon affair, with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot playing supporting roles. Described as a classic claret-style, it features bright, blackcurrant fruit characters, savoury complexity and fine-grained tannins. Originally made by the late great Dr Bailey Carrodus, this flagship of the Yarra has been in the hands of Sarah Crowe (James Hallidays 2016 Winemaker of the Year) since the 2013 vintage.

Levantine Hill Syrah

Levantine Hill Syrah has lifted complex aromas of dusty red berries, musk, cardamom and white pepper and vanillin oak. The elegant medium-bodied palate abounds with spice and earthy nuances in a concentration of savouriness. The silky ripe tannins have been deftly integrated with the underlying oak providing carriage for the fruit weight and lingering flavours to a pronounced and persistent finish.

Yeringberg Pinot Noir

The Pinot noir vines used for this wine by Yeringberg were planted in 1969, 1970 & 1974. There are two clones the younger vines are MV6 and the older vines are known as the Rutherglen clone. All the fruit is crushed, de-stemmed and inoculated. Fermentation is generally rapid, with temperatures reaching 32°C. Ferments are plunged by hand every 8 hours. It is pressed as soon as the ferment is dry. The wine is matured in hogsheads, about 30% new, for about 18 months, with 2-3 rackings. Not filtered.

Medhurst Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir

In the winery: Underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, then matured for 10 months.In the glass: Medium Pinot red.On the nose: Perfect balance of strawberry, field mushroom, black tea and oak spice.On the palate: A charming and harmonious wine with core flavours of strawberry and cream, a silken build of earthy complexity, and fine, perfectly integrated tannins. All elements in harmony from start to finish. Classy!

Giant Steps Sexton Pinot Noir

This superb Pinot Noir shows what heights can be reached when modestly priced wines are produced in outstanding vintages. Expect a red and dark cherry fragrance with a hint of spice. It's light bodied with earthy flavours of red berries delivered with finesses one of the finest producers of the 'Fronsac' appellation. Predominantly Merlot, there's supreme depth of dark fruit, together with the 'polished' structure so synonymous with the 2012 vintage.

Soumah Hexham Pinot Noir

Savoury, woody spice adds greater interest to become quite intense in its cherry skin and stone flavours, with intriguing white mushroom and pepper notes in the finish.

Medhurst Estate Vineyard Rosé

This dazzling Rosé from Medhurst is a stylish blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with 40% Shiraz grapes. The resulting wine features a pale copper hue with a bright salmon haze. Fresh aromas of raspberry, strawberry and citrus fuse with light suggestions of fennel and white jasmine blossom to flaunt an attractive bouquet. These magnificent characters make way for a refined and savoury palate to provide a supple and creamy texture. The finale is delicate and refreshing, marked by chalky and phenolic nuances. This fantastic Medhurst Estate Vineyard Rosé tastes excellent on its own, or can be enjoyed with grilled sausages, prosciutto or fried fish.

Oakridge 864 Close Planted Block Syrah

Vibrant purple red. Lifted fragrant and fresh black and redcurrant fruit followed by jasmine like florals, ground spices, summer pudding and pannacotta. A secondary look with air shows whole bunch notes of spice and sauvage adding complexity. The palate is juicy soft and round, laced with black fruit, raspberries, white pepper and spices. Very much medium bodied, this has beautiful line of acidity that adds length and balance to the velvety, gentle core of sweet fruit. A pure, fresh, fragrant wine.
