The Tate name is synonymous with Margaret River after John Tate helped create arguable the regions most well-known winery, Evans & Tate. Today, Franklin Tate has brought the Tate name back to life with new, exciting terroir driven wines. Franklin painstakingly selected the very best vineyard sites, those that held unique micro-sites within them to enable him to achieve his goal of producing some of the regions best wines. This Shiraz was picked at optimum ripeness and fermented with 10% whole bunch. French barriques were used in the fermentation process to give a softness to the palate, as was a small percentage of Viognier. The result is a great Margaret River Shiraz with grounded savoury notes along with ripeness and spicy lift.

Leeuwin's Art Label Shiraz has quickly established itself as one of Margaret River's best examples of the variety. Aromas of pepper and dark berry fruit are followed by a palate of length and class.

Award winning wines have been the modus operandi for the Tate family since the mid-70s. That pedigree and know-how can be tasted in this bottle of hand crafted Margaret River Cabernet Merlot. Houghton Gladstones Cabernet Sauvignon is a wonderful example of well established wineries in the Western Australian wine scene with access to some amazing vineyards sites within the Margaret River. On show here are marvelous aromas and flavours of bay leaf, black tea and some spicy mocha notes. Excitingly dense on palate with harmonious oak balance and impressive acidity. A brilliant wine.

One of the early pioneers of the Margaret River region, Woodlands' vineyards date back to 1973. As curator of these historic vineyards, Stuart & Andrew Watson have firmly re-established Woodlands into the top echolon of Margaret River producers. Sourced from an the outstanding 2008 vintage, the Shelley Anne Cabernet Sauvignon shows cassis, mulberry and blackcurrant with that typical bay leaf and cedar undertones. Woodlands were one of the 'first wave' of wineries to set up in the Margaret River in the early 1970s and today that heritage is in the capable hands of Andrew and Stuart Watson, sons of the pioneering David. The Margaret Cabernet Merlot displays aromas of rosemary, leather and spice winding through blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. The palate is a reflection of the nose, and is bolstered by eucalypt, bay leaf and cranberry flavours.

The Wines in the Alexander's Vineyard range represent the essence of what Margaret River Winemaking is all about. Vasse Felix, Margaret River's founding wine estate, was established by Dr Thomas Brendan Cullity in 1967. Among his first plantings were Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec vines, from which he produced the estate's first red wine. The Tom Cullity descends from these original vines and represents the pinnacle of Vasse Felix. The inaugural release will be in May 2017, coinciding with Vasse Felix's 50th Anniversary.
