Hawkshead was the first home in New Zealand of Denis Marshall’s ancestor, naturalist William Swainson, Fellow of the Royal Society, who arrived to make his home here in 1841. Complex and enticing grapefruit, citrus and white peach characters are complemented by struck-flint, spice and vanilla. In the glass the wine is loaded with texture. Stone fruit and citrus are underpinned by a flinty mineral flavour and toasty complexity. The Bouldevines Vineyard is located at the entrance to the Omaka Valley, inland from the coast. This vineyard sits in the Southern Valleys, with soils that are stony, alluvial, and free draining. The inland location is cooler, allowing the Chardonnay grapes to achieve optimum ripeness and expressive fruit flavour, while retaining vibrant acidity.

Kim Crawford Small Parcels Sauvignon Blanc is a true expression of the complexities Marlborough has to offer. Although the harvest was smaller than anticipated, the vintage is being hailed as exceptional across Marlborough. Favorable weather conditions allowed the vines to ripen perfectly, this resulted in excellent ripeness, with wines showcasing impressive flavour intensity and depth. The wine reveals intense, lifted aromatics tropical fruit that lead into a range of complex flavours, including distinct mineral and flinty notes accenting its rich hefty palate that last through a clean, crisp finish.

The bouquet is pure and expressive showing vibrant passionfruit, tropical fruit and grapefruit aromas, with underlying blackcurrant leaf and herbal notes. The palate is concentrated and elegant, with fruit flavours that are consistent with the nose; grapefruit, mango and herbal. A lively acidity and mineral drive, provide the wine with exceptional concentration and length.

Marlborough isn't only capable of producing Sauvignon Blanc, some fine examples of Pinot Noir are coming our too. None better than this excellent wine from Delta Vineyards. Extremely fragrant on the nose and packed with squeezed forest berries, oak, spice, and some herbal, thyme-like notes. The palate displays vibrant red fruit flavours balanced by silky, fine tannins.

Fromm's passion for Pinot Noir is reflected in the attention to detail shown in the vineyard and throughout the winemaking process. Carefully selected clones and rootstocks, together with intensive vineyard care and low cropping, means the vines produce fruit that illustrates the terroir in which they were grown. Today in the Fromm stable of vineyards there are eleven clones, 4000 - 5000 vines per hectare, with crop levels around five to six tonnes per hectare. The blend which makes up each years La Strada Pinot Noir by Fromm depends on what nature has given in each of their vineyards. Invariably, the wine is strongly varietal, fruity and has immediate appeal.

This wine is made from vineyards in the Parkburn area of Cromwell. All the grapes are hand harvested and fermented in small lots in stainless steel tanks helping to retain fruit purity and finesse. The wine is full, dry and textural, it displays excellent fruit structure, intensity and mineral length.
