This Margaret River is ripe, complex and concentrated showing classic Margaret River Cabernet characters of cassis, mulberry and bay leaf. There is balanced cedar oak along with cocoa powder, damp earth and gravel dust. The palate is full and structured with fine grain tannins. There is cassis, cocoa, bay leaf, damp earth and cedar oak. The wine has a firm, long finish with enough concentration and structure to provide medium to long term ageing. Match with traditional roast lamb with rosemary. A family owned and run winery situated in the Northern Margaret River wine region. Kevin & Jenny McKay established the winery in 2001, twenty years on and the aim is still the same. Grape variety - 100% Malbec. Oak maturation - 4 months in 100% 4 year old French oak barriques. Colour - Pale pink. Aroma -A complex and fragrant rosé that opens with savoury notes, strawberry, dried flowers, musk, brioche, flint and spice. Palate -Full with a rich creamy mouthfeel and firm acidity. There are flavours of strawberry, nougat and musk. A richer style of rosé with a dry finish. Food matches -Chicken terrine, seafood, grilled vegetables. Peak drinking - Drink now. Viticulture -Fruit to make the Jack out the Box Rosé was sourced from a premium vineyard in Margaret River. Close monitoring and analysis of these vines leads to shoot or bunch thinning by hand if required to obtain the perfect balance for good exposure and healthy ripening. A philosophy of minimal inputs in this premium block allowed the unique combination of variety, soil type and microclimate to shine through and produce a parcel of fruit with true character. The 2023 vintage was a mild year in Margaret River allowing enough time to ripen fruit to our specification. Winemaking -The Malbec grapes were harvested early in the morning, then sent directly to the winery for processing where the free run juice was separated from the skins immediately to limit colour and phenolic extraction. The clarified juice was transferred to old French oak barrels for fermentation in a cool room. All barrels were stirred fortnightly until blending and bottling. Storage & Bottling -The 2023 Jack out the Box Rose was bottled in August 2023 to flint premium claret glass with a stelvin closure.

A deep crimson red which opens with the classical Margaret River nose...fresh varietal notes of bright berried fruits, briar and sea spray, followed by wafts of chocolate and mocha with subtle spiced oak aromas. A medium to full bodied palate shows cassis and Satsuma plum characteristics, leading into the sweet mid-palate depth of chocolate and mocha, finishing with defined talents. The wine is elegant and shows great length of flavour and well-structured palate line. 'Pure and fragrant, expect a nose layered with cassis, blackcurrant, leaf and dusty spice rack spices, while in your mouth it's pure, beautifully structured, fine and dry. Redolent in ripe cassis and dark chocolate aromas, the palate is long and structured with perfect poise and balance.

The bouquet shows great density, ripe concentrated blackcurrant, anise, black cardamom and lifted lavender with hints of black olives and plum aromas. The entry on the palate is soft and succulent whilst displaying a subtle texture with a black core of fruit including boysenberry, dark cherries and olive tapinade. The tannin and acid are seamlessly integrated from the front through to the long and lingering finish.

Always regarded as one of Margaret River's favourite wineries due to the inherant quality. Forester Estate seems to marry beautifully with their value-for-money philosophy. This Cabernet Merlot continues to win wide acclaim due to its dark purple colour and its lifted aromas of raspberries and black forest cake. Rich berry flavours are well balanced by a tight tannin structure typical of quality Margaret River Cabernets. Grape variety - 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Oak maturation - 100% of the wine is aged in French oak barriques (20% new) for 15 months. Colour - Deep red with purple hue. Aroma - Ripe with dark fruit characters and toasty-cedar oak. The wine opens with mulberry, currant and blackberry with underlying complexity from bay leaf, gravel dust and subtle perfume. Palate - Full with a soft supple texture and fine tannins. Once again there are ripe fruit characters of mulberry, blackberry and boysenberry with cedar oak, bay leaf and lavender. The wine has a long soft finish. Food matches - Meat dishes, saucy pastas and cheeses. Peak drinking - Drinking well now but will develop further over the next 5 to 8 years.

This wine has character and class, with Malbec adding richness and enhancing the vibrant fruitiness ofthe blend. Blackberry, plum, and black cherry flavors shine through, complementing the Cabernet's traditional notes of blackcurrant and cassis. The wine dances the line between serious and fun,finishing with fine, long, silky tannins and a hint of mocha spice.
