A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec matured in a combination of new and used French oak barriques for 15 months. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Lifted red to black currant and mulberry aromas are intermeshed with black olive, spicy cedar, tobacco and bay leaf notes. Medium bodied the palate features a mix of ripe red currant and mulberry fruits over cedary tobacco characters, dusty earth and spicy bay leaf. Fine yet nicely structured tannins with a refined mid length conclusion. Drink over the next 6-8 years. Alc. 13.5%

The tannins are fine and long and drive the palate. Hint of red berries and pomegranate linger on the palate. The oak is intergrated and classy. WINEMAKING:Machine harvested fruit, crushed and destemmed. A portion of the fruit fermented in open-top fermenters, and the main portion in a larger format red fermenter. Macerated on skins for 10 days before being pressed into temperature controlled tanks to finish fermentation. Aged in 15% new oak, mostle French and some Hungarian for 18 months.

Rebus, first vintage 2012, is Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash (5-6%) of Malbec. Separate parcels are fermented and matured in French barriques (40% new) for 12 months. The final wine is a selection of the best barrels and aims to be counted among the best and brightest of Margaret River. Rebus typically shows aromas of cherries, violets and graphite followed by a fleshy palate of redcurrants, plum skin and dark chocolate modulating to licorice, black berries and slate, soft, ripe tannins and a persistent mineral finish.
