This Barrel Aged Gin combines two great aspects of the Wairarapa: native bush and Pinot Noir. Distillers and brothers Stew and Chris Reid take their Native Gin, which uses three native botanicals (Kawakawa, Manuka and Horopito), and age it for three months in ex-Martinborough Pinot Noir French oak barrels.Not only is this Gin truly reflective of the region it is produced in, but it challenges your perception of what gin can be. Four Pillars Navy Strength is a gin very much in the style of the Rare Dry Gin but with the volume turned up slightly beyond 11. At 58.8% ABV the gin can support some more robust and interesting botanicals, so there are three new botanicals that are both new (and fresh), including fresh turmeric and ginger. Together they have heightened the spiciness of the gin, and the turmeric in particular has added weight and a lovely earthiness to the palate. Also in the botanical basket about half the normal oranges have been replaced with some explosive native finger limes, grown in Byron Bay. They have an intensity of flavour and acid that is almost impossible to believe, and in the basket they help the gin attain super citrus notes and lovely high-toned freshness.

Tasting Notes: The Pastis de Campagne is made from a fine eau-de-vie, according to the old ways of Provence winegrowers who preferred it for its part gourmand and fruity, cleaner flavor. Like them, Jean Boyer has added to his country pastis a number of aromatic spices to give the freshness and aromas that one should expect from a pastis.

Grown, harvested & distilled at our East Coast Distillery, located in the pristine Island state of Tasmania, this Artisan style Navy Strength Gin is made using a combination of 9 botanicals which include locally sourced Tasmanian Pepperberries and Lemon Myrtle to name a few. The full flavoured, strong finish is enough to compliment any cocktail but, we think, much like the sailors of old that it is best enjoyed by itself, a sipping gin if you will.

Distilled in Melbourne. Brogans Royal Blood Gin is the savoury sensation that is her navy strength gin. Something a bit special, complex with a lingering cardamom heat, at 57.2% it has a bit of a kick. Herbal aromas and flavours from the rosemary and bay leaf are seasoned with Australian sea parsley, saltbush and roasted wattle seed giving plenty of good mouthfeel. Tasting Note Juniper forward, dry, slightly citrus, and extremely savoury. With herbal and aromatic characters of fresh vapour distilled rosemary leaf, supported by bay leaf, olive leaf and black peppercorns, that are amplified by the Australian natives of spicy mountain pepper leaf, fragrant and savoury salt bush and salty sea parsley. A bold amount of roasted native wattle seeds lengthens the finish and exaggerates the heat of green cardamom. A winner in a dry Martini and a Dirty G&T with a slice of apple to garnish.
