ILR is Brokenwoods flagship Semillon showing concentrated lemon curd, toast and honey notes with superb depth and intensity of flavour supported by a spine of lemony acidity. It is named in honour of managing director-chief winemaker Iain Leslie Riggs. The grapes are hand harvested, crushed, chilled and pressed immediately. Brokenwood inoculates with neutral yeast for fermentation in inert stainless steel. In typical Hunter style, there is no malolactic fermentation or oak influence. A style capable of long ageing, the ILR is only released after five years of bottle age.

With it's golden hue with a green tinge and baked apple with hints of toastiness on the nose. Citrus flavours of lemon and lime and a buttery texture with good length and crispness on the finish. Brokenwood ILR Reserve Semillon is a brilliant example of the classic Hunter Valley Style. Glorious toast and almond bread characters with flavours of honey and a nutty finish. Will age for what seems like an age.
