Le Sauvignon Blanc by Paul Mas is the quintessential South of France experience where warm dry growing seasons lead to perfectly ripe grapes and gorgeously seductive wines. Vigneron Jean Claude Mas has worked assiduously to build a vineyard empire using organic and sustainable practices. A disciple of precision winemaking practices he employs the latest in technology to preserve natural fruit characters and linear freshness. The sauvignon blanc grapes are picked at optimum ripeness and cool-vinified at Domaine Paul Mas, near Pezenas in the Languedoc. Typically, this vibrant and juicy wine is pale coloured with intense grapefruit, lime, herb garden, camomile aromas, lovely fresh grapefruit, tropical fruit, lemon curd flavours, fine lacy textures and superb cutting acidity. The silk screened flower bottle neatly captures and sells the floral aromatics and prettiness of the wine. This is very much a warmer climate style with plenty of expression, freshness and flavour. From the owner of Château Lynch Moussas, Horizon de Lynch proposes to be an affordable red in the style of Moussas, and typical of the quality to be found in the Haut Medoc. The wine is a lovely blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. It displays sweet blackberry and forest floor characters, with ripe tannins, excellent balance and an elegant finish.

This Cabernet Shiraz blend from Majella, icons of Coonawarra, is all about bright youthful fruit. Made with little oak influence, the upfront mulberry and blackcurrant characters are supported by fine lingering tannins.

A perfect each way betexcellent to drink now but able to improve with up to five years cellaring.

This Clare Valley Cabernet from Taylors shows ample varietal blackcurrant flavour seasoned with some attractive sweet oak. The tannins are firm but nicely in balance.
