Vignerons de Mancey Bourgogne Pinot Noir

A lighter ruby colour with a fine hue. The bouquet highlights aromas of berries, gooseberry and Morello cherry soaked in brandy. The nose remains very expressive and open. The attack is smooth with nice fruit flavours, concentrated around the cherry fragrance. This Pinot Noir is simple, with plenty of finesse, at the beginning of its ageing. An appealing yet compact finish, this wine is highly drinkable. The grapes are treaded upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation causes the temperature to rise, which in turn favours maceration, helping diffuse colour into the fermenting must. This phase lasts around 8 to 10 days, a time devoted to pumping-over steps and permanent temperature verifications. The juice is then drawn, while the grape stalk and pulp are pressed. The runoff juice and pressed juice get blended in perset proportions. Next, the wine is matured partially in a tank and partially in barrels. Bottling takes place in July following several racking steps. A few kilometres from Tournus and the Saône river, Cave de Mancey is in the heart of lovely countryside. The landscape is open, soft and rounded. The vines alternate with meadows and woods. Created in 1929, the Cave currently groups the production of some 80 vine-growers, with 140 hectares of vines spread over 8 villages around Mancey. The Cave vinifies the grapes from all the Burgundy grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Aligoté and Gamay which thrive wonderfully in the terroirs of the Mâconnais.
