The Warner Vineyard is planted on decomposed granitic soils overlying a clay base. Vinification in "open-top wood" or concrete tanks takes place in three separate cuvees of equal volume; one is co-fermented with up to 5% Roussanne. Maturation takes place in new (40%) and wine-seasoned barriques.

Castagna Un Segreto Sangiovese Syrah

In the glass: Deep garnet crimson.On the nose: Exotic aromas of succulent red and black cherry, woody herbs, brown spice, earth and smokey oak.On the palate: Beautifully rich yet not sweet with a layered and elegant core of bramble fruit, dried herbs and fine tannin depth. So savoury, long and elegant with a delicious mix of secondary leather, tobacco and primary fruit richness blending seamlessley. A wine of character and brooding complexity.

Castagna La Chiave Sangiovese

The nose is of blackberries, raspberry, sour black cherries with notes of chocolate and just a hint of truffle. In the mouth there are lovely cedary tannins with beautiful fruit which speaks of bright raspberries slightly caramelised apple and chocolate.

Rich and intensely concentrated with plenty of volume in the mouth, red to black currant, subtle liquorice and dark cherry fruits engulf the palate. Earthy tobacco, dried herb and spicy cedar characters ensue. Excellent drive with fresh acidity and a sturdy yet well integrated tannin structure lending a subtle chewy feel to the long expressive aftertaste. Drink over the next 5-6 years. Alc. 14.5%
