We are a small team at Patrick of Coonawarra, making award winning wine from our estate grown vineyards within the Limestone Coast of South Australia. We produce product of passion, perseverance, people & place. This wine has been handcrafted to combine bold blackberry fruits with the spice and earthiness for which Coonawarra is renowned. It is medium bodied in structure, yet has concentration and elegance with a smooth finish. WINEMAKER’S NOTE: This Cabernet is grown in our northern Coonawarra vineyard. It spent time in seasoned French oak for 20 months, before being bottled and cellared before release. VINTAGE NOTE: The season had a fantastic start, with generous Winter rainfall regenerating the aquifer and ensuring adequate subsoil moisture coming into Spring. We saw great canopy growth but a cool November delayed flowering and brought the bunch weights down to just below average. The majority of the state suffered from dry conditions, however our cool climate and on average rainfall kept the vines healthy and made for a long growing season, perfect for Cabernet.

Based out of Coonawarra, they're passionate about the Limestone Coast and the subregions within it.The famed region Coonawarra is situated in the heart of the Limestone Coast known for it's terra rossa soils and production of Cabernet Sauvignon. The cool climate region, with maritime influences, is ideal for Cabernet, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly over an extended period to achieve the desired physiological ripeness.A cool growing season and above average winter rains leading into the 2017 vintage saw the region return to what could be best described as a more traditional Coonawarra vintage. The cool season produced medium bodied red wines of deep colour and elegant fruit flavours.Tasting notes:Colour: Medium intensity with bright purple hue.Nose: Generous and lifted, showing complex aromas of cherry liquor and mulberry fruits complemented by notes of mint and spice.Palate: Medium bodied with distinctive ripe dark fruits and classic spicy cassis finishing with background French oak characteristics.

In 2013, we decided to put aside some excellent wine to be released with bottling age for the first time in winery history. Cabernet Sauvignon seems to be the most obvious choice for aging purpose. Coonawarra had an excellent vintage in 2013, which was characterised by a warm, dry summer and then cool autumn. The Coonawarra region is a flat terrain, located on the Limestone coast in South Australia. Beneath this beautiful landscape lies a limestone ridge and contrasting soils which provide the perfect conditions for crafting great wine. On the nose, lifted raspberry, spice with subtle oak that leads to a generous mouth full of dark berry flavours. Long gentle, puckery tannins provides a long finish. Enjoy now or reward from cellaring over the next 3 to 5 years.

Lifted aromas of vanilla and spicy oak are exhibited in this Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep flavours of blackcurrant and mulberry fruit, followed by hints of nutmeg, lingering chocolate oak and balanced tannin, lead to an elegant finish. Beautifully paired with slow roasted lamb or rich duck dishes.

A round rich palate with a good backbone of tight, but deliciously mouth-watering tannins. Generously flavoured but retaining elegance. Structured to age beautifully over the long term but round enough to be enjoyed while the primary fruits are fresh and vibrant.
