Crafted from three premium Yarra Valley sites, combining both MV6 and D2V4 (pommard) Pinot Noir clones. The first parcel was hand-picked on the 20th of February, with the final parcel coming in on the 1st of April. All batches were fermented wild utilising different ratios of whole-bunches, the final blend equating to 25%. Matured in French oak puncheons (30% new), where it saw 10 months élevage prior to bottling.

Hand picked fruit from select parcels from our best blocks. The blocks have an easterly aspect that enables them to avoid harsh afternoon sun. Picked early in the morning, hand sorted, destemmed and fermented in small batches. Fermented over two weeks with minimal intervention. Wines were pumped over at the start and end and only some gentle plunging towards the end of ferment. This allows the wines to retain purity of fruit and better reflect the vineyards they were grown in. After 6 months in older French barriques and hogsheads the wine was bottled with minimal sulphites added. The wine has aromas of red fruits, cherries and floral notes. An earthy palate with an undertow of dusty cherries, red berries and pomegranate. Some fine velvety tannins and bright acid make this a savoury and structural wine.

The bouquet displays vibrant characters of dark cherry and plum. Use of French oak adds further layers of complexity to the aromas. The wine has great presence, texture and length. The palate is long and finishes with powdery, yet persistent tannins. Ripe and powerful, a great Yarra valley Pinot Noir which will also reward careful cellaring.

Oakdene Petas Pinot Noir is garnet in colour, with an intense bouquet of cherry, spice, mocha and smoked meats, leading to sweet cherry, briar and hints of clove. The mid palate offers earthy cherry, plum notes, and some spice and whole bunch characters, firm tannins and a long finish. 15% whole bunches, wild yeast and matured in French oak puncheons (30% new) for 11 months bottled without fining and light filtration. Yering Station Yarra Pinot Noir is a classic Pinot Noir with red/black cherry complimented with brooding earthy undertones and subtle savoury spice on the nose. The palate hints of violets and lavender. Rich black cherry spice surrounded by vanillin oak. Lovely middle palate concentration supported by fine velvet like tannins.
