For nearly a decade, Shaun and Liz have been producing award winning wines for a number of the Hunter Valley’s most successful brands. The 2013 vintage marked the first of Silkman Wines, since then they have received numerous awards, most notably in the 2016 James Halliday Wine Companion where they were awarded 5 Stars as well as being named among the 10 Best New Wineries in Australia.Their Chardonnay is long and elegant with notes of citrus and creamy mouthfeel delivering a wine with great persistence and body.

In the glass: Vibrant pale yellow. On the nose: Ripe melon fruit and vanillin oak. On the palate: Shows clean stonefruit intensity with pineapple and tropical depth, lovely oak harmony, creamy flavour balance, juicy acidity and a grapefruit-like cut on the finish.

A portion of the wine was fermented with indigenous wild strains of yeast and this was blended with traditional barrel fermented and lees-stirred components. The result is a multi-layered wine in the traditional opulent Bunnamagoo style.

A very appealing yellow/green tinted colour. Tropical aromas with plenty of primary fruit as a young wine. Minimal oak influence, of which adds a slight bran meal note. More tropical fruit on the palate, balanced by bright zesty acidity. An excellent and flavoursome Chardonnay.

Scarborough Yellow Label Chardonnay is sourced from fruit grown on the winery's rich Terra Rossa soil. This helps produce a Chardonnay that is rich and mouth filling with creamy, buttery flavours. Having being left of lees for a minimum of 12 month and going through 100% Malo fermentation, this Hunter Valley Chardonnay is one for those who love an 'old-school' Chardonnay.

A different expression altogether sans the benefit of bottle age. Youthful. Zesty. Punchy. As filigreed of talcy acidity and fine boned as the rest of the crew, this is guava, lemon grass and sherbet, teeming along a line of candied citrus chew. The wine will blossom in the medium term, but will not shy away from some aged furrows and complexity. Alcohol: 12%. Closure: screwcap. Date tasted: Jan 2018. Drink by: 2029. Price: $35. Great Hunter Semillon should be a must on any oenophiles agenda, especially when it's produced by one of our finest producers, home to some of Australia's most awarded wines. This newly released single vineyard Semillon has already been awarded two gold medals and 96 points rating from James Halliday (2013 Edition). It's vibrant and youthful in style and glistens with a seamless exhibition of bright citrus, gentle stone fruit and honeyed nuances.

Poole's Rock Chardonnay gives refreshing zesty flavours, lime juice, lemon zest, lemon grass, green melon, kiwi fruit with a lingering mineral line down the palate, a fresh mouth watering aftertaste.

Complex mineral and flint aromas with a palate that has good length. Tyrrell's Stevens Semillon has wonderful balance between the fresh citrus flavours of youth and the aged 'toasty' characters. It is great with seafood dishes.
