One of the first commercial wineries in the region, Heathcote Winery was established in 1978. The winery was purchased in 1997 by a group of independent wine enthusiasts where wines reflective of Heathcote region became the focus. As the name suggests, this winery is located in the Heathcote vineyard region of Victoria, and owns two vineyard sites within the GI. Newlans Lane Vineyard and Slaughter House Paddock make up 18 hectares of land under vine. Newlans Lane is planted to multiple varieties, Slaughter House to just Shiraz. The pioneers of Heathcote have created superb shiraz, reflecting minimal intervention, and the natural attributes of the area have been prominent in the wines. Heathcote Winery shares this passion to produce great shiraz from their own vineyards, but with an individual handprint that stamps the wine as Heathcote Winery Heathcote Shiraz.
