The Tate family are one of the most famous wine names in Western Australia, especially in Margaret River. It was the Tate family who began Evans & Tate decades ago and today the Tate name is re-born under the Franklin Tate Estates label. Forester Estate focuses on showcasing the distinct regional characters of Margaret River fruit. Made by globally trained winemaker Todd Payne, this is a style of Chardonnay that has re-awakened the variety's popularity with consumers. Full flavoured, rich and ripe with a delicious spectrum of peach, cashew, grilled nut and mealy notes all balanced with some toasty oak and zesty length.

Named after the patriarch of the Tate family, the Alexanders Vineyard Chardonnay is sourced from the heart of Margaret River and was chosen due to Chardonnay's love and suitability to the region. Deep Woods Hillside Chardonnay exhibits lifted nectarine and white blossom characters. A suggestion of cedar like oak frames the generous stone fruit characters and complex chipped shell minerality. The palate is clean and lively with tremendous depth of ripe stone-fruit flavour nuanced by cashew notes. Bright citrusy acidity ensures and long and seamless finish providing enhanced structure and length.

If you want to try the benchmark in this style then look no further than Pierro. A clean and concentrated palate of lemon sherbet and gooseberry with a hint of oak influence. LTC stands for 'little touch of Chardonnay' which adds the right amount of palate weight and complexity.

This is the wine that the winemakers at Pierro drink on their day off. They have seen the hand-picked grapes, gently cold pressed and put into mature oak for 10 months to give the wine complexity yet elegant simplicity.

Light gold, with a fresh, green rim. Stonefruit, pear and citrus notes and seductive fresh toast, dried herbs and malty aromas from barrel fermentation. Palate Remarkable fruit sweetness, intensity and persistence, matched with lovely texture and savoury elements and balanced by fresh, natural acidity. A prolonged cool and wet growing season meant the vines were lush and healthy heading into ripening. This resulted in later harvest dates, accentuated by the cool and wet ripening months; conditions not experienced in Western Australia for more than 10 years. These conditions, coupled with the absence of heat events, produced highly aromatic whites with good natural acidity. The fruit was selectively handpicked at perfect ripeness, before being loaded into an airbag press and gently squeezed. The free-run juice was continuously tasted until an optimum point was reached. The juice underwent wild fermentation in new French oak puncheons, then remained in barrel for 7-10 months, with monthly lees stirring to provide texture and mouthfeel. Each batch was carefully assessed for inclusion in the final blend. This minimal handling has produced a unique, delicate Redbrook Chardonnay style that will develop great complexity over time.
