A tight and complex bouquet of dried plum, fresh almond, blood plum, smoked meats, concentrated cherry, blueberry preserve, ginger, glazed prune and clove. In all pretty it’s thrilling, what greets you on the palate flows through to the palate, with a band of deep but amazingly light fruits, an ironstone searing penetration builds up and then slowly flows away, the fruit depth here is admiral and the balance is so pure that this will age quite effortlessly for an extended time.

Smoky Cigar McLaren Vale Shiraz is rich and lively. Secret Selection shows all the hallmarks of a big brand style and characteristic associated with luxcury region.Plummy, ripe cherries with freshly crack pepper, mixed with spicy cedar oak in the background. The Syrah patch was planted in the mid 1940’s and yields a microscopic 250-300 dozen per annum. The Sandown Syrah patch is west facing and features significant ironstone content. The site yields a signature incense like spice throughout the fruit and makes for a highly exotic expression of Blewitt Springs Syrah. Cola, sarsaparilla, incense, blackcurrant, blueberry, black olive, Italian leather, Sandalwood and roasted meat are all on display with recessed power woven throughout this highly perfumed and multi-layered, seamless example.

A bright and deeply coloured Grenache, our Vine Sean is a serious wine, with rustic aromas of woody herbs, mint, blackberry and hints of kirsch. The palate is deeply flavoured, yet medium bodied and fresh, with a defining acid line and fine tannin structure.

Shingleback Single Vineyard Grenache is a true expression of the McLaren Vale region, crafted from select handpicked bush vine grenache parcels of grapes grown in our Shingleback Vineyard located between Mclaren Vale and Mclaren Flat planted in 1947. Its sandy loam over clay soil allows roots to travel down to the clay layer where the moisture is trapped allowing vines to survive with very minimum irrigation. This wine displays blueberry and raspberry aromas with hints of black earthy tones, its long silky tannins balance the vibrant red fruit flavours, resulting in a very approachable wine to enjoy now or cellar carefully for up to 10 years
