This wonderful red wine flaunts a deep plum colour. The well balanced bouquet offers fragrances of red fruits and raspberries enhanced by a gentle touch of herbs. This delightful nose is followed by mouth-filling flavours of savoury fruit, complex spice and subtle vanilla oak on the palate. Integrated with fine tannins, the resulting drink is very approachable. This wine has been specially crafted to be enjoyed upon release, but can also be cellar for 3 to 7 years for later drinking.

Kay Brothers from McLaren Vale tread that delightful line between tradition and innovation perfectly. A rich and deep history in the region has seen them settle on some of best vineyard land in the region which helps produce juicy, pleasure-filled wines like this Basket Pressed Grenache. Lifted colours of purple and dark crimson in the glass give a preview to the layers of brambly fruit on the nose. Copious amounts of plush redcurrants and raspberry on the palate with a silken mouthfeel due to elegant tannin and bright acidity.

The nose is complex with signs of barrel maturation without any obvious oak.PalateThere are ripe strawberry and raspberry flavours with the warmth of the dry grown Grenache showing long and fine tannins with a lingering finish. There is a savoury dry character that is not aggressive in any way with hints of spice. The wine lingers and has cleansing acidity. This wine reflects the terroir of the area and the characteristics of the Grenache variety.

This is the third release of this wine drawing fruit from our Blewitt Springs vineyard sitting on sandy soil offering excellent drainage and resistance to disease and this year using Grenache from our friends at Dog Ridge. The wise old ladies from Blewitt Springs (shiraz) have teamed up with spicy Grenache from McLaren Flat producing fruit of uncommon intensity and flavour. 51% Touriga and 49% Tempranillo. Although both quite tannic varieties, winemaker Peter Leask has crafted a youthful yet surprisingly supple drop. Delicious!Deep red to crimson. Ripe black and purple fruit, with a seductively plush texture, some attractive cigar box and leather complexity, and a powerful finish. Yet to show its best.
