Penfolds Bin 95 Grange Shiraz is Australian wine royalty the equal of any 1st Growth or Grand Cru. The architect of the modern Australian wine industry, Max Schubert, first created his masterpiece back in 1951 and released his first commercial vintage in 1952. Grange is a superbly perfumed and concentrated wine that combines the intense fruit and ripe tannins while extracting the nuances of new, fine grained American Oak after 20 months careful maturation. Known to be capable of ageing gracefully for well over 20 years, the 2007 Grange is certain to become another classic. Born out of a difficult vintage with low rainfall and higher than average summertime temperatures, the resulting wine is nothing more than a triumph of skill and terroir.

In 2004, similar vintage conditions to the iconic 1962 vintage, inspired Penfolds winemakers to recreate Max Schuberts iconic wine. Cabernet Sauvignon from Block 20, alongside Koonunga Hill and Kalimna Shiraz, were included in the 2004 Penfolds Bin 60A blend.

Carefully selected from the coveted 2018 South Australian vintage, the wines represent two unique interpretations of the iconic Australian blend of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz. 802.B varietal composition is close to evenly split with cabernet sauvignon contributing 55% and shiraz 45% of the blend respectively. The components were married immediately post vintage, completing 19 months maturation as a blend in French oak hogsheads.This wine will reward careful cellaring for several decades. Chris Ringland Shiraz is steeped in the Barossa’s post-colonial story and the high art and science of winemaking. Typically the wine is deep in colour with intense dark berry, paneforte, espresso roasted chestnut aromas. The palate is plush and concentrated with blackberry, mocha, paneforte spicy flavours and dense fine chocolaty tannins. Despite the opulence, flamboyance, richness and concentration, the wine has superb percussion and freshness. The wine is a small vinification of around four to five hogsheads or 1500 litres. The "unusually thick skinned" Shiraz is entirely sourced from Chris Ringland's dry-grown vineyard on the edge of the Barossa Valley, but technically in Eden Valley, along Flaxman's Valley near Randall's Hill. The wine is "painstakingly hand-made" in open fermenters and regularly pumped-over to extract colour, flavour and tannins. After draining and pressing through a traditional basket press, fermentation is completed in 100% new French oak hogsheads. A period of up to 50 months oak maturation follows to achieve optimum complexity and balance between oak and fruit. The extraordinarily high release prices (higher than Penfolds Grange), limited production and reputation make Chris Ringland Shiraz the stuff of legends.

The 2001 La Turque is a vineyard-designated wine from a parcel inside the lieu-dit Côte Brune. It is a blend of 93% Syrah and 7% Vigonier. Meaty and rich, laced with Asian spice, espresso, blackberries, and cherry. An earthy, powerful, tannic wine with a long, heady, rich finish.
