The roots of Sevenhill Cellars go all the way back to the 16th century when a young Spanish courtier called Inigo swapped a life of violence for one dedicated to helping others and co-founded the religious order we know today as the Jesuits. He mistakenly thought the Latin translation of his name was Ignatius and hundreds of years later, the more well-known St Ignatius has stuck fast. Fast forward to Adelaide in 1848, where Jesuit priests struck out North with a group of over 100 German and Silesian migrants. Amid the beautiful rolling hills of the Clare Valley is where they decided to settle and, after purchasing 100 acres of land in 1849, the young priest named the property Sevenhill in honour of the seven hills of Rome. This Riesling enjoys a bright aroma of lime, citrus, mineral and orange blossom. The palate is finely structured with gentle citrus and nectarine fruit flavours, crisp acidity and a clean balanced finish.

Logan is a family-owned and -operated business with an emphasis on cool-climate wines from Orange and Mudgee. Peter Logan's 'Love & Valour' is a hugely popular range that occasionally drifts beyond his home in Orange. This 2022 Riesling is from the picturesque Clare Valley. Riesling has a strong affinity for the cooler climes of the World, and it is therefore no surprise that it would produce wines of great character in the Adelaide Hills. Whilst we made the hard decision to graft some of our Riesling vines over to Pinot Noir some years back, we have retained only the most promising clones to produce our Riesling as its perhaps the top white pick amongst staff and remains a labour of love. The Riesling crop, whilst minuscule, showed hallmark varietal characters and fine acidity nurtured by the cool nights and warm sunny days. Careful sampling in the vineyard, paying particular attention to flavour development and acid levels, meant the fruit was harvested on the 14th of March when the ideal balance was reached. Lifted floral aromas and the lively citrus fruit intensity are finely balanced by the tight structure and crisp natural acidity.

Tom Barry is a third-generation master winemaker, and this Gold winning Clare Valley riesling is only further proof of his expertise. Serve as a refreshing aperitif before seafood. Aromas of white nectarine flesh, fresh lime and fragrant orange blossom combine with crushed wet limestone. The palate is well weighted on entry, with full drive and purpose throughout.
