Product Description: The Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese 2024 is a rare, late-harvest Riesling from the renowned Graacher Domprobst vineyard in Germany’s Middle Mosel. Significantly, the 2024 vintage represents the first Joh. Jos. Prüm release from this historic vineyard site. The wine comes from a small 0.3-hectare parcel acquired from S.A. Prüm, and Auslese was the only classification produced from the parcel in 2024. Graacher Domprobst is recognised as a VDP.GROSSE LAGE® and occupies a protected position directly above the village of Graach. The vineyard rises from approximately 110 to 260 metres above sea level, with steep gradients ranging from 45 to 70 percent. Its southwest-to-south-southwest orientation provides favourable sun exposure, while shelter from prevailing winds helps the grapes reach full ripeness. The soils are composed of grey-blue Devonian slate with a notable proportion of clay, providing both mineral character and valuable water-storage capacity. The grapes were harvested by hand and underwent spontaneous fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. Harvest began on 1 October, with warmer conditions later in the month allowing selected grapes to progress to Auslese ripeness. The wine’s aromatic characteristics include lemongrass, mint, cassis and wet slate. These herbal, dark-fruited and mineral elements give the wine a distinctive profile compared with the more citrus-oriented expressions associated with neighbouring Graacher Himmelreich. At only 7% alcohol, it retains the graceful lightness expected of a finely composed Mosel Auslese despite its ripe fruit concentration. The Wittmanns and their ancestors have been wine-growers in southern Rheinhessen since 1663. Since 1990, the family has cultivated the vineyards according to controlled ecological guidelines, and since 2004, bio-dynamically. This Riesling has a fine aroma of yellow fruits and apple, clear, elegant structure and juicy freshness. Dry with a juicy acidity which harmonises with the typical earthy mineral tones; great finish.

Named after the first dated image of Volratz Tower, 1573 Riesling is made from the nearby Rheingau vineyards, many owned by staff working at Schloss Vollrads. It is a very refreshing and well-balanced wine showing terrific fruit definition and quartz-like acidity.

A perfection of palate and sweetness with excellent acidity are woven through strongly on the palate with citrus characters of lime and lemon and a crisp balanced finish.

How can something that is so light in alcohol have such incredible palate weight and texture? It's an art form and Ernst Loosen is a master. The Kabinett style means a decent lick of residual sugar, but the steely, crunchy acid means you'll hardly notice it. Simply stunning.
