Yangarra High Sands Grenache
A brooding and strongly varietal grenache style showing concentrated dark cherry, tobacco, spice, iron and raspberry fruits. Full-bodied, dry and firm on the palate with significant tannins well supported by complex fruit, it finishes long and robust, typical of classic Grenache.
Yangarra GSM
Bright and perfumed with chewy earth and spice characters, this is a fine example of what an evenly spread palate tastes like. A wine with a backbone of old bush vine Grenache planted in the 1940s. This wine will continue to evolve with cellaring, but can also be enjoyed in its youth alongside barbequed meats. The grapes from each block were hand-picked, de-stemmed and mechanically sorted. Whole berries were then transferred to open-top fermenters. We cold soaked the fermentation tanks for 5 days until the onset of wild fermentation, utilising the yeasts that naturally come in with the grapes from the vineyard. The open fermenters underwent a careful regime of plunging and drain and returns. The 2016 growing season was marked by a dry spring and was headed for a very early and compressed season. We had some mild summer rains which slowed the sugar ripening of the vines down, and helped give brightness and fleshiness to vintage. Yangarra Estate Vineyard High Sands Grenache
High Sands Grenache is the flagship of the Yangarra winery. Its made with 100% Grenache and sourced from gnarly old bush vines that were planted in 1946 and situated at the highest altitude in their vineyard. The wine is intense, complex and expressive of type and place.
Hancock & Hancock Shiraz Grenache
Restrained and supple, lots of ripe dark plum, pepper and spice of Shiraz with the rose petal perfume lift and red cherry taste of Grenache. Lovely lightness and brightness to the back palate with a faint dried herbal and savoury edge, making it terrific immediate drinking but will cellar nicely for 5-10 years.
Fork in the Road Grenache Shiraz
Fork in the Road Grenache Shiraz shows a deep red colour with magenta hues along the edges. The attractive nose exudes rich and complex aromas of blueberries, fresh charcuterie, dark chocolate and herbs coupled with light floral notes. These vibrant fragrances effortlessly shift to the palate to provide sweet flavours of red fruits and confection balanced by underlying spices and subtle oak notes. The fine and smooth tannins offer a soft and juicy texture, as well as a persistent and lingering finale. Drink this wonderful red wine with brisket, slow cooked barbeque or spicy ethnic dishes to relish its full flavour potential.
S C Pannell Basso Garnacha
Former Gourmet Traveller WINE Winemaker of the Year and two-time Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy winner Stephen Pannell loves working with Grenache, and is justly seen as one of Australia's foremost proponents with the grape. This juicy, vibrant, drink-now style is 100% Grenache from Blewitt Springs and McLaren Vale. Hand harvested at 13.5 Baumé. Free run juice with minimal pressings vinified, with malolactic fermentation in stainless steel and only 25ppm liquid sulphur dioxide added through the process. Raised in 2500L French vats for six months, racked and sent to bottle without filtration.The wine shows fresh-fruit aromas of bright red berries and watermelon, with a touch of rose petal and musk leading on to a plush and juicy palate. It's youthful, medium-bodied and lively, with a long, succulent finish bolstered by sandy tannins and a hint of dark spice.
Under Wraps McLaren Vale Grenache
This McLaren Vale Grenache is bursting with ripe cherry and and raspberry fruit flavours, with a lush and concentrated palate and silky textured finish and supple tannins. This big red will pair perfectly with roasted meats and vegetables.
Sherrah Preservative Free Grenache
Sourced from two vineyards, the youngest 60 years of age, and then made without sulphur or fining agents. Designed to be enjoyed whilst young and fresh.Very fresh red to purple. Raspberry, cherry, earth and pomegranate. fruit characters flow on from the nose with a velvety mouthfeel, rounded and gentle tannin harmony and lovely savoury persistence. A great young-drinker.
Sherrah Red et Al Grenache Shiraz Nero
A blend of 60% Grenache, 23% Shiraz and 17% Nero, producing a fresh, vibrant and silken red wine. Only old oak is used, allowing the fruit to shine.Medium garnet. Hi-octane iodine, prune, leather, earth and bacon bone. Rich, spicy harmony throughout with a brooding mix of juicy raspberry and plum, fine tannins and spicy acidity. Shows lovely textural elements on the long, well balanced finish.
